There was a time not so long ago when one could count off all the LGBTQ superheroes at Marvel and DC on the fingers of one hand. We’ve seen an increasing number of queer heroes make their debuts in recent years, and a few established heroes have come out as LGBTQ, but the number of queer superheroes at the Big Two in any given month is still sometimes small enough to count on one hand. To celebrate Pride, and the many LGBTQ heroes that have appeared at Marvel and DC over the years, we’ve assembled a panel of ComicsAlliance contributors to hold a fantasy draft. Our writers will take turns building up seven-member dream teams of LGBTQ superheroes from the ranks of both publishers.

How do you do an Ultimates series post-Secret Wars, without the Ultimate Universe? The original series by Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch was supposed to be a reimagining of the Avengers concept for the 21st century, and had significant influence on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, both narratively and visually. After the events of Secret Wars, we no longer have an Ultimate Universe, but we do have a new Ultimates comic by Al Ewing, Kenneth Rocafort and Dan Brown. Four issues in, they’re re-imagining and redefining what a superhero team can be in the twenty-first century, just like the original volume did fourteen years ago.

Rumors have circulated over the last few weeks that a Punisher show on Netflix may be on the cards, spinning out of Jon Bernthal's performance in the upcoming second season of Daredevil, while previous rumors suggested that the platform might deliver a Moon Knight show. The first raft of Marvel Netlix shows is less than halfway through launching, and Netflix boss Ted Sarandon has said that further shows are possible, but there are no current plans to do more than a couple of shows a year. 'Phase Two' of Marvel's Netflix plans may be a few years away. But that won't stop us speculating wildly on the shows we'd like to see if the platform does pursue a more aggressive Marvel strategy and move beyond the current line up of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. So in the spirit of wishful thinking, we asked our contributors the question; Which Marvel property would you like to see turned into a Netflix show?

This year, TT Games continues its brief tradition of rotating comic book Lego game releases from Marvel and DC with Lego Marvel's Avengers. Based on the two Avengers films, Lego Avengers will allow you to play through both movies with the actual cast doing the voice overs. No new audio will be recorded of course; like Lego The Hobbit, this game will reuse the dialogue from the films in place of having actors like Robert Downey, Jr or Chris Hemsworth reprising their roles. TT Games held a small interview session before the panel at San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, and we spoke with producer Matt Ellison about the upcoming action game. As the third Lego game TT will be releasing this year (Lego Jurassic World is available now, and Lego Dimensions arrives this fall), we discussed what makes Lego Marvel's Avengers different and what new elements would be incorporated, from characters to mechanics, to keep the Lego experience fresh.

Of all the books announced by Marvel during this week's big All-New, All-Different unveiling, one of the surprise titles that generated the most buzz was Ultimates, by Al Ewing and Kenneth Rocafort. Though the name echoes back to the Ultimate Universe version of the Avengers, this is a very different team, comprised of some of the Marvel Universe's major powerhouses and most brilliant minds as they tackle cosmic threats on the scale of... well, Galactus. ComicsAlliance spoke to Ewing to learn about the big idea behind this big team and the sort of threats they'll be facing, and to discover what drew him to put characters like Black Panther, Captain Marvel and America Chavez on one team --- besides the fact that they're all obviously the best characters.

Marvel has been unveiling its new line-up over the past few days, with the full reveal coming on Wednesday 1 July, and what the publisher has announced thus far has shown plenty of promise, including a more diverse Avengers team and a new central role for Miles Morales in the Marvel Universe. But there's always room for more. More diversity, more originality, more weirdness.

We're already quite excited about A-Force, the new Avengers team from writers G. Willow Wilson and Marguerite Bennett, and artist Jorge Molina, that brings together some of Marvel's all-time greatest heroes as perhaps the greatest super-team of all time, including Captain Marvel, Dazzler, America Chavez, Nico Minoru, Spider-Gwen, and She-Hulk. Now we're especially excited because of this unlettered preview that shows them fighting sharks.
