Funko Puts a Little Vinyl Sugar on Batman ’66

DC Comics
DC Comics

The great thing about the Batman 1966 licensing boom that we've been in for the past year or so has been the variety of collectibles commemorating the fan-favorite series. For a long time, we just didn't have much to work with when it came to the Adam West/Burt Ward era, but now we've got action figures, banks, miniature cars, statues, comics and all kinds of other random stuff.

While we've seen Funko's Batman 1966 Pop figures and Dorbz on shelves already, the creatives at Vinyl Sugar will introduce Vinyl Idolz based on the Bat-family this fall. The Batman '66 wave was teased earlier in the year, but didn't have any prototypes or release date mentioned at the time. The Vinyl Idolz line has already offered such pop culture icons like the characters from Seinfeld, Ghostbusters and Hot Fuzz in its strange-yet-appealing Family Guy meets Aardman Animation style, and the campiness of Batman '66 helps the characters fit right in without missing a beat.

New ‘Gotham’ Season 2 Photo Takes Us Into Bruce’s Batty Future

Gotham Season 2 Batcave Photo
FOX

As Gotham Season 2's promotion ramps up, focus continually aims at the colorful villains emerging throughout the city, rather than young Bruce Wayne’s cowled future. Still, a new photo takes us inside the major Bat-revelation of Season 1's finale, while Ben McKenzie offers his take on when the series should introduce a full-grown Batman.

Gotham Season 2 Trailer Joker
FOX

Gotham star Ben McKenzie recently promised the second season to improve upon muddled reception of the first, but the latest trailer seems to be clowning around. There’s more Joker camp than ever in a new “Rise of the Villains” spot, and we even get a taste of (sigh) Barbara’s arc to boot.

On The Cheap: DC’s Harley Quinn Sale Gives You The Best $10 You’ll Spend All Week

Batman Adventures Vol. 2

This week on Comixology, DC has a modest sale built around Harley Quinn, dropping the price on collections for everyone's favorite lovestruck villainess down by a little more than half. It's a pretty weird bunch of comics, too, pulling in everything from her mid-2000s solo series to the more recent New 52 relaunch, and even the digital-first Ame-Comi Girls series.

But down at the very end of the list, there are two collections of comics based on Batman: The Animated Series listed at five bucks each, and folks, if you can find a better deal than paying less than $10 for sixteen of the best Batman stories of the decade, then I want to see it.

Ben McKenzie Says ‘Gotham’ Season 2 Won’t Make the Same ‘Mistakes’ As Last Year

Gotham Season 2 Mistake Ben McKenzie
FOX

FOX’s Gotham clearly made enough Bat-fans happy to justify an extended first season order, as well as the Season 2 renewal, though many (like us) derided the show’s take on the Dark Knight’s early days. Series lead Ben McKenzie apparently agrees, calling Season 1 a “mistake,” and assuring this year will be “exactly what the fans want to see.”
