Doctor Strange wrapped production this past weekend with an outdoors shoot in New York City. Along with that came a flurry of paparazzi photos of stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelsen in action. A bunch of photos of Benedict Cumberbatch and pals filming Doctor Strange on the streets of New York arrived online this past weekend, offering us our first glimpse of some of the characters, including Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo and Mads Mikkelsen as an unnamed villain. The photos also offered our clearest look at Cumberbatch in his full Strange regalia, and while it's not a perfect reproduction of his famous Steve Ditko costume or any of its established variations, it's perhaps more faithfully comic-booky than most of us expected. So what do we think of Cumberstrange? Do we love it, or do we hate it?

We’ve already gotten an official look at Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme, but some new photos from the set of Doctor Strange give us another look at the actor and his co-star Chiwetel Ejiofor (along with a few mysterious cohorts). The stars of Marvel’s mystical superhero film spring into action — quite literally — in the latest images from the set, taking the action from London to the streets of New York.

We’re 10 months away from the release of Doctor Strange, and probably just a few months out from the first official trailer, which will likely debut with Captain America: Civil War in May. While you patiently wait to see Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme in action, Marvel has released some new concept art along with high-def versions of those official photos that previously appeared in Entertainment Weekly.

Benedict Cumberbatch really doesn't want to upset Doctor Strange fans. The Sherlock actor posed in his costume for the upcoming Marvel movie on the latest cover of Entertainment Weekly, and it was one of the first times he tried it on. On top of getting used to his sorcerer's wardrobe, Cumberbatch said he's still in the early stages of learning about his character's spells. You can count on Cumberbatch to make sure he gets every pose just right --- every finger counts!

There are a few things in particular Doctor Strange fans are hoping to see when Marvel’s mystical superhero film arrives next fall, including characters like the Ancient One and Night Nurse, as well as familiar elements from the comics — like the Sanctum Sanctorum, a townhouse built on sacred ground and charged with supernatural energy, the place that Stephen Strange calls home. And the latest set photo may very well be taken from inside that house.

Production has officially begun on Marvel’s Doctor Strange, with director Scott Derrickson at the helm and Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme in what promises to be a truly unique and, well, strange offering from the MCU. Marvel has formally announced the start of production and confirmed the central cast, including former Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen, who had previously been in talks for a role.

Marvel has given us a little taste of weirdness with Guardians of the Galaxy and the Quantum Realm stuff in Ant-Man — but things are about to get real strange when Doctor Strange hits theaters next fall. How strange, exactly? New descriptions of the film’s tone as well as the first reactions to concept art have trickled in, and we don’t think it’ll be much longer before we get a peek at some of this stuff for ourselves (cough, D23).

Doctor Strange already boasts an impressive cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor, but Marvel isn’t ready to stop there. In addition to those three Oscar-nominees (with Swinton winning for her role in Michael Clayton), they have also reportedly offered Rachel McAdams a role in the upcoming superhero film.

Several months after we first learned he was being eyed for a role in Marvel’s Doctor Strange, we finally know who Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor will play in the upcoming superhero adventure. And yes, everyone guessed right: the 12 Years a Slave star will take on the role of Baron Mordo, Stephen Strange’s arch-nemesis and fellow student of the mystic arts.
