In honor of the caped crusaders of the convention scene, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), an ongoing collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we’ve discovered and assembled into a super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.

The release of Rocksteady Studios' Batman: Arkham Knight has come and gone, and left a divisive trail in the Batmobile's wake. Whether you found the missions focused on the tank-like Batmobile tedious or thought the inclusion of Batman's iconic ride was a brilliant gamble on Rocksteady's part, the developer is still planning on supporting the game with even more Batmobile goodies. While the Batgirl story DLC is dropping this month (this week for Season Pass holders, next week for everyone else), Rocksteady has teased the next batch of add-ons with some new images. Where the Batgirl missions will be handled by Arkham Origins studio WB Montreal, the remaining content will be handled exclusively by Rocksteady. We know the next six months of DLC will introduce new villains, skins, challenge maps, race tracks, Batmobile models and story missions, but we know little details about what that means. For all we know, the only story missions will be the Batgirl content arriving this week, and the remainder just be different skins, Batmobiles and race tracks. Case in point, the upcoming August drop, which features seven new skins, and the classic Tim Burton era Batmobile.

Though Square Enix had more than a fair share of existing product on display at SDCC '15, the company still managed to bring a few new pieces to the show, too. The Variant line has been a fairly big hit for Square, allowing for some more radical takes on familiar characters like Batman, Superman, Iron Man and Spider-Man. Though a tad pricier than most other collectibles featuring your favorite comic heroes, there's an undeniable personality in Square's products that you just don't see anywhere else. Though the DC version of the Variant line didn't have much new, beyond yet another look at the incredibly divisive Tetsuya Nomura Catwoman, the Marvel line saw two Avengers leap into the fray. Black Widow joins Iron Man and Thor in the Play Arts series first, with Captain America coming some time after Natasha. Both are easily identifiable as the characters you've grown familiar with over their published lifespan, but feature that hallmark Squeenix style. Widow has a lot of detailing in her uniform, which makes up for how she's traditionally not outrageously outfitted. She's buttoned-up pretty well, too, and it's nice to see a Widow figure that isn't letting it all (or most of it anyway) hang out.

If you thought Tweeterhead's Batman '66 Yvonne Craig Batgirl statue was something else, wait until you get a load of the company's upcoming Batman Returns Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman maquette. Capturing everything that was awesome about Pfeiffer's memorable portrayal of Selina Kyle in Tim Burton's 1992 sequel, Tweeterhead's statue brings Catwoman's ferocity, charisma and bad-ass attitude to life in great detail. At 15.5" tall, this is no small piece, but the 1/6 scale does offer Tweeterhead the ability to pack in a lot more detail in the costume. There's a great deal of stitching to render, along with the threading on her boots. While the costume itself is rather plain, the paint app gets the patent leather/vinyl sheen right. Standing atop a miniaturized version of the Shreck's Deparment Store rooftop, Catwoman stands at the ready with her whip poised to strike. It's a familiar pose to anyone that's seen the film, and you can almost hear her giving the security guards inside the store grief over how terrible they are at their jobs.

Costume has played a big part in writer Genevieve Valentine's approach to Catwoman since she took over the title with issue #35 late last year. Selina Kyle traded in her famous leather catsuit for a tailored black tuxedo to take on the role of Gotham City mob boss, a look designed to evoke power and status. The next issue, out this Wednesday, sees Sellina putting the suit back on to get her gloves dirty once again --- but that doesn't stop her from also wearing a pretty fabulous opera gown. In a leaked email between Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter and Sony CEO Michael Lynton, Perlmutter offered up three examples of terrible female-led super hero films - Elektra, Catwoman, and Supergirl - as part of what some have theorized was a conversation about why not to do more female-led super hero films. There's a lot of speculation involved, but nonetheless it's an interesting email from Perlmutter that has a few possible interpretations.
