The Archie Comics Reboot Continues with ‘Life with Kevin’ and ‘Betty and Veronica’

archietitles_featured

Almost a year ago, Archie Comics launched a Kickstarter for three upcoming books, and then quickly abandoned that plan. The first of those books, Jughead, came out last year to great acclaim. Today, Archie has officially announced the coming release of the other two titles, Life with Kevin and Betty and Veronica.

Find Out Why Archie And Sabrina Never Go Out In ‘Betty & Veronica Comics Digest’ #241

Betty & Veronica Comics Digest #241

In the current version of the main-line Archie universe, Archie is still recovering from a breakup with Betty and just starting his relationship with Veronica, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch is... Well, Sabrina's currently in the '50s dealing with Lovecraftian horrors and human sacrifice. Clearly, there's a good reason why those two should not be dating. But what about the classic versions?

Despite seeming like a pretty obvious pairing, Archie and Sabrina have never really made a go of a relationship, and while a lot of that can be blamed on Betty, Veronica, and poor, oblivious Harvey Kinkle, it turns out that there's another good reason for that too. Now, we're finding out the whole story in this week's Betty & Veronica Comics Digest #241, on sale now, featuring a brand new story from Dan Parent! Check out a preview!

Betty And Veronica Have A Batmobile (And Other Crime-Fighting Equipment) In ‘Agents B & V’ [Preview]

Pep Digital: Agents Betty and Veronica

As strange as it might sound, the Archie characters have a surprisingly long history with the spy genre. Back in the '60s, there was The Man From R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E., a parody of The Man From U.N.C.L.E. in which pretty much everything was written as an acronym --- up to and including Archie's own name --- and even putting aside its recent appearance in Jughead, it wasn't that long ago that the idea came back for its own four-issue arc. But there was also Agents Betty and Veronica.

Set in one of Archie's many alternate universes, Agents Betty and Veronica is a story about what would happen if Betty and Veronica were undercover spies who fought crime at night as, well, Agents Betty and Veronica. Sure, the codenames need work, but the bright side is that their crime-fighting equipment include a straight up bright purple version of the 1989 Batmobile, so they've got something going for them. Next week, Archie is putting out a digital collection of their adventures --- and you can check out a preview below!

Kevin Keller Takes The Spotlight In The Next ‘Archie 75 Series’ Digital Collection

Archie 75 Series: Kevin Keller

Of all the changes that Archie Comics has made to Riverdale over the past few years --- you know, overrunning the town with zombies, doing a parallel universe marriage story and even rebooting the core continuity for the first time ever - I'm not sure that any of them have had the impact of Kevin Keller. Originally created by Dan Parent and introduced in Veronica #202 back in 2010, Kevin made headlines by being Riverdale High's first openly gay student, and even got his own ongoing series in the process.

Now, as part of Archie's series of digital collections celebrating its 75th Anniversary, the publisher is putting Kevin back in the spotlight with 75 pages of his adventures, including the time that he hung out with Star Trek's own George Takei. Check out a preview!

IDW Celebrates 75 Years Of Archie With Crossover Variant Covers (Or: Archie vs. Judge Dredd Is One Step Closer To Reality)

ArchieIDW00

If there's one thing we have learned throughout the history of comics, it's that if you joke about something ridiculous long enough, then eventually, it's probably going to happen. Which, I imagine, is how we got the upcoming variant cover for IDW's Judge Dredd where the stone-faced lawman of the future finally meets Archie Andrews.

Okay, okay, so right now, it's only a variant cover as part of IDW's upcoming celebration of Archie's 75th Anniversary, which will see a pretty amazing set of covers where IDW's various titles --- including Transformers, Jem and the Holograms and Star Trek --- meet up with Riverdale's favorite teens. Check them out below!

Archie Launches Kickstarter For Chip Zdarsky’s ‘Jughead,’ Adam Hughes on ‘Betty & Veronica’ And Dan Parent And J. Bone’s ‘Life With Kevin’

Archie by Fiona Staples

I don't know about you, but I did not wake up this morning expecting to see the phrase, "Jughead relaunch from the writer of Sex Criminals." And yet, here we are.

Following up on the upcoming relaunch of Archie with Mark Waid and Fiona Staples, Archie Comics announced today that they plan to expand the rebooted Riverdale through a Kickstarter campaign. The goal is set at $350,000, with the money going to a trio of rebooted comics: Jughead from writer Chip Zdarsky and an unannounced artist, Life With Kevin by Dan Parent and J. Bone, and, maybe the most surprising one of all, a new Betty & Veronica #1 written and drawn by Adam Hughes.

‘Archie vs. Sharknado’ Is a Real Comic That Is Being Published

archie-vs-sharknado-feat

Archie Comics has officially jumped the Sharknado.

In an move that is absolutely not an April Fools' joke, because that was more than two weeks ago, Archie will be teaming up with the filmmakers behind the intentionally cheesy Sharknado movie series for a 48-page one shot titled Archie vs. Sharknado. The issue, co-written by Archie stalwart Dan Parent and Sharknado trilogy director Anthony C. Ferrante, and featuring art by Parent and Rich Koslowski, will come out July 22, the same day Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! premieres on SyFy.

‘Archie’ To End With #666, Has The Devil Conquered Riverdale At Last?

Archie00

When Archie Comics announced a while back that it was relaunching its flagship character with a new series by Mark Waid and Fiona Staples, we all knew that the current series was going to come to an end, and today, Archie let us know exactly when that's happening. This June will mark the final issue for Archie, ending at... #666!

Could this mean that Archie's universe gets rebooted due to some kind of sinister pact with the Devil himself?! Has the Author of All Lies finally wreaked his hellish revenge on Archie and his crew for all those weird religious comics they appeared in back in the '70s?Is Reggie actually Satan, as I have so long suspected?
