We do a lot of reading between the lines when it comes to the divide between Marvel’s cinematic and TV branches, but rarely does an actor out-and-out wish death to a character on either side. Yes, Nick Fury may quietly arrange for S.H.I.E.L.D. to take out Foggy Nelson, as Samuel L. Jackson voices his disdain for the Daredevil character.

It was Daredevil star Charlie Cox who first let slip that Marvel Netflix teamup The Defenders would start shooting before 2016's end, throwing into question Daredevil Season 3, and now we can consider it official. Not only will Daredevil showrunners Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie helm The Defenders, but Drew Goddard will take an active position as executive producer.
Neither Marvel nor Netflix have made particularly clear how the future Defenders series will be scheduled, following Luke Cage’s September premiere, current Iron Fist production, or the others awaiting new seasons, but has Daredevil come to the rescue? Charlie Cox says The Defenders will shoot later this year, potentially setting us up for a 2017 premiere.
A lot has happened to Matt Murdock since returning to New York; there’s no Foggy or Kirsten, no-one remembers that he’s Daredevil, and he has a brand new sidekick called Blindspot. Following the recent battle with the villainous cult-leader Tenfingers, Daredevil’s world is set to get rocked once again as his first love Elektra returns, and we’ve got a preview from Marvel of Daredevil #6 by Charles Soule and Matteo Buffagni.
Say what you will about a lacking connections between Marvel’s various live-action properties, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Netflix’s Daredevil have consistently managed to work in winking references to one another. Did you catch tonight’s “Watchdogs” shout-out to the Punisher’s rampage, or setup for new series Damage Control? See for yourself!
If, like us, you've spent the past weekend binging on Netflix's second season of Daredevil and reveling in all the superhero exploits, ninja action and all-around punishment, you probably still haven't had your fill. While there are great Daredevil runs from the likes of Frank Miller and Mark Waid that you could read to get more of a hornhead fix, what are you supposed to do if you've read all of them too? We've got five of the best independent comics to try next if you can't get enough of the Man Without Fear.
Likely as it seems that Marvel will prove as quick to renew Daredevil for Season 3 as last year, we don’t yet know when The Defenders will pull the cast toward a team-up miniseries. Daredevil showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez aren’t talking either, though they at least know where the various Daredevil Season 2 threads might pick up, and how Jessica Jones might be involved.
We wouldn’t dare spoil the second season of Marvel’s Netflix Daredevil for you (if you haven’t powered through, get on it!), but suffice to say, we’re not much clearer on what will bring The Defenders together than before. Season 2 star Elodie Yung has an idea, however, that Elektra might be better suited against the big Netflix team-up, rather than lead her own series.
This weekend Marvel fans across the world were able to binge watch and enjoy all of Daredevil Season 2 on Netflix. It was another solid season of Marvel television, and, with the introductions of Punisher and Elektra, an impressive step forward for the show as a whole. But, it almost never happened. Back in 2012, 20th Century Fox was scrambling to get a feature film version of Daredevil into production before the rights reverted back to Marvel. Though Marvel did get the rights back, Fox almost moved forward on a film that could’ve done for The Man Without Fear what Deadpool did for The Merc With a Mouth.
