Stop Trying To Make Deathstroke The Terminator Happen

Deathstroke the Terminator, DC Comics

Over the past few years, Deathstroke the Terminator has become something of a go-to villain for DC comics. It's no exaggeration to say that he's one of the most prominent DC characters in media outside of comics. Since appearing as Slade in Teen Titans, we've seen that guy on TV shows with Smallville and Arrow, in video games with Arkham Origins and Injustice, and just recently, it was announced that he's been thrown into the animated adaptation of Batman & Son, a story that already had Ra's al-Ghul, Talia and ninja man-bats -- and that's even if you cut out the part where Darkseid uses time-rays that he shoots out of his eyes to send Batman back to caveman days, which is understandable if you're trying to fit something into an 80-minute Cartoon Network time slot.

Point being, we're living in a time when Deathstroke has risen to become one of DC's most prominent villains, and arguably one of their most popular characters, but every time I see him, I just can't get my mind around how exactly that happened -- and more importantly, why it keeps on happening.

Batman: Arkham Origins
Batman: Arkham Origins

A new trailer for WB Games Montreal's Batman: Arkham Origins offers a reminder that the Dark Knight's got "eight assassins after head," and offers up a pretty good look at what he'll be dealing with. Big boss Black Mask, The Joker, Bane, Deathstroke, Copperhead, and the just-announced Firefly all make appearances. Not only that, but pair of cutscenes with Alfred and James Gordon (presumably before he was a commissioner... maybe lieutenant?) are featured, too.

The trailer also gives fans their first good listens to the new voices for Batman and The Joker -- Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker -- who seem to be doing their best Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill impressions. See it all in motion after the jump.

Mattel Reveals ‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ Batman And Deathstroke Action Figures

Not to be outdone by DC Collectibles' ongoing Batman: Arkham Origins/Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate video game tie-in action figure reveals, Mattel's unloaded two new promotional images of its 6" B:AO Batman and Deathstroke toys. The timing is solid considering last week's steady stream of E3 reveals, including new gameplay footage and screen shots of Batman confronting an army of goons hired by Black Mask to wipe him from the streets of Gotham. Serving as Batman's most capable rival in terms of combat, Deathstroke's been a major player in game promos, which is probably why Mattel's honed in on the increasingly action figure-ified villain for its retail line. The Batman figure seems not to include any overt accessories, although Mattel may stick him with at least a Batarang. Deathstroke, on the other hand, is armed to the teeth with a pistol, rifle, staff, sword and scabbard.
