Detective Pikachu

For those of us still playing Pokemon Go (me) or excited about the new Sun and Moon games, or just big fans of Pokemon in general, Legendary’s “live action” Detective Pikachu movie has its director. Rob Letterman, who headed last year’s Goosebumps movie, will helm the project, which has been fast-tracked for a 2017 production start.

The dream of a live-action Pokémon movie has been alive for the past twenty years of the franchise's existence, with fans around the world imagining the day they'll see an approximation of a real Charizard or Mewtwo on the screen. Talks have been ramping up about that possibility becoming an actual reality as of late, and it seems our dreams may come true with the news that Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel screenwriter Nicole Perlman may be working with Gravity Falls' Alex Hirsch on the upcoming adaptation.
