Chris Pratt Makes Good on Super Bowl Bet, Visits Kids as Star-Lord
Marvel stars Chris Pratt and Chris Evans—Seahawks and Patriots fans, respectively—made a bet on Twitter on which of their teams would win the Super Bowl. At stake? The loser would have to visit a local charity dressed as their superhero. The Patriots beat the Seahawks in dramatic fashion, so Pratt, in full Star-Lord costume, lived up to his end of the bargain and visited Christopher's Haven, a home for kids and their families battling cancer in Boston.

Marvel's Black Vortex event launches this week with The Black Vortex #1 by Sam Humphries and Ed McGuiness, and to promote the event -- and maybe explain it a little -- Marvel has released a video trailer in which a very serious fella outlines the basic plot details. X-Men. Guardians. Ancient artifact of immense and immeasurable power. Villains. Aliens. Star-Lord's dad. Thanos's kid. That sort of thing. Ooh, and Kitty and Pete pull guns on each other, so you know it's serious, even if the very serious voice over hadn't already convinced you. This. Is. Spartax.

The Mad Titan finally gets his sixth-scale due from Hot Toys later this year. Based on his appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy, the big bad behind the scenes in Marvel's cinematic universe, Thanos, will soon be able to join the rest of the incredibly elaborate rogues already released as Hot Toys, like Loki, Red Skull and Iron Monger.

Superpoll: Pratt vs. Evans, Round III: Guardians Vs. Avengers
Chris Evans and Chris Pratt have made a bet on the outcome of this weekend's Super Bowl that will see one of them show up at the other's choice of children's hospital or hospice in their Marvel superhero costume brandishing their rival's team colors. Either Captain America will carry the flag of Pratt's Seattle Seahawks, or Star-Lord will don the jersey of Evans's New England Patriots. We couldn't let this titanic tussle between two of Marvel's super-Chrisses pass by without a contest of our own, so we're pitting the worlds of Star-Lord and Captain America head-to-head in a series of polls that we call... the Superpoll. Round two currently sees honors divided between the two heroes, with Red Skull and Redford claiming victories for Cap, and Kitty Pryde and the 1980s bringing it home for Peter Quill, but you still have time to make a difference. Today we pit the two heroes' teammates head-to-head in five rounds of titanic tussling, using a special matching algorithm (not really) to determine the fairest fights (we picked the match-ups we thought were the most fun). Welcome to the Superpoll: Round III.

The Superpoll Round I: Star-Lord Vs. Captain America
Chris Pratt and Chris Evans have gone to war. The second and third most handsome Marvel movie Chrisses (or third and second, maybe) have launched a Twitter feud over this coming weekend's Super Bowl between Pratt's team, the Seattle Seahawks, and Evans' team, the New England Patriots. Evans has now promised that if his team loses on Sunday, he'll visit the Seattle Children's Hospital in his Captain America costume, waving a Seahawks flag. But if Pratt's team loses, Pratt agrees he will visit the Christopher's Haven home for children with cancer in Boston, wearing his Star-Lord costume and a Tom Brady Patriots jersey. The stakes are high. And adorable. And only fate, and maybe sport, can decide the outcome of this bet. But we wanted to give ComicsAlliance readers a chance to weigh in on the Pratt/Evans handsome-face-off, so all this week we're running a series of polls pitting the world of Captain America against the world of Star-Lord. At the end of the week we'll tally up the results to see which of these men is the people's champion. Welcome to The Superpoll.

Valerio Schiti's New 'Space Marine' Venom Is Awesome
Marvel has unveiled a brand new look for Flash Thompson's Venom, courtesy of artist Valerio Schiti, and it's great. Schiti is currently the penciller on Guardians of the Galaxy with writer Brian Michael Bendis, and Thompson, a long-time part of the Spider-Man supporting cast, is now riding around space with the crew as the Avengers' official emissary. In this week's Guardians Of The Galaxy #23, he got a symbiote upgrade and an even newer gig as... an agent of the cosmos. And with that job title comes a spiffy new outfit. Schiti's sketches show that he went through a few different takes on the new design before settling on one that keeps the spider motif central and distinct, but also gives Venom a much more sci-fi feel. Venom is as big as ever, but with an armored toughness and an awesome helmet design. The overall look evokes a Warhammer Space Marine.

The post-credits scene for Guardians Of The Galaxy featured a rather unexpected comic book character, which inspired fan speculation over whether or not this particular character would make another appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While we won’t see him on the big screen again anytime soon, he is getting his very own comic book sequel to help explain how he ended up in Guardians of the Galaxy.
