Marvel Studios has released the first one-sheet poster for Guardians of the Galaxy, invoking imagery of the pulp sci-fi era with a shot of the titular heroes set against a painted otherworldly vista. The accompanying tagline speaks to the film's tone, which the poster and trailer both indicate walks the line between pure adventure and absurd comedy, while the rest of the text tells the observer, "Hey, we know you've no f***ing idea who these characters are, but we made these other movies you like so just trust us."
Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for this summer's big movie, Guardians of the Galaxy -- the one we all thought was going to be a terrible turkey but now we're actually excited about! But what have we actually learned from two and a half minutes of footage?
Our team of forensic experts have sifted through every nanosecond of the trailer for the clues, cameos, and clever subtle alpha-nerd references that all the other sites missed, because we're the true comics masters, and no-one can match this level of in-depth coverage. No-one. YOU HEAR ME, SCREEN CRUSH? EAT IT.
Staring Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, and the voices of Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper as Groot and Rocket Racoon, respectively, Guardians of the Galaxy is the first Marvel Studios film to depict some of the decidedly less iconic characters of the Marvel comic book universe. In an interview with USA Today’s Brian Truitt, Pratt and Guardians director James Gunn shared new images from the film and revealed some details about the characters and the overall nature of the film, which they hope will be a “fresh diversion” for superhero movie fans who’ve been seen the same movie again and again and again.
Why don't you check out the first full trailer and tell us how close they came to that mark.
Yesterday it was revealed that Marvel will debut the first trailer for the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live. But for those who can't wait, or maybe just those who have very early bedtimes, Marvel has released a 15 second teaser trailer this morning, featuring several cast members, including Chris Pratt as Starlord, Djimon Hounsou as Korath and Karen Gillan as Nebula. You can check out the trailer below.
"Being stuck in space with no accountability makes for a strange combination of youthful vibrancy and cluelessness in a childlike man," said actor Chris Pratt of his role as Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, the first Marvel Studios film to depict some of the decidedly less iconic characters of the Marvel comic book universe. In an interview with USA Today's Brian Truitt, the actor and Guardians director James Gunn shared new images from the film and revealed some details about the characters and the overall nature of the film, which they hope will be a "fresh diversion" for superhero movie fans who've been seen the same movie again and again and again.
Between its massive Hasbro and LEGO toy lines, Guardians of the Galaxy is the undisputed movie license of Toy Fair 2014. So it's no surprise that Funkohas debuted some new GotG figures as part of its own sizable 3.75" tall Pop! Vinyl empire -- or that the usually four-character Pop! wave is extra big to accommodate the film's five heroes.
We can't show you everything LEGO has on display at Toy Fair 2014, but there's still several Marvel and DC Comics sets that fans are going to want to see. Are you ready for a proper LEGO Sentinel? We've got plenty of X-Men, Spider-Man and Batman sets for you to check out -- including from the new, easy-to-build LEGO Jr.s line and the kid-friendly DUPLO line.
Following its pre-Toy Fair 2014 preview of its Marvel Legends toys, Hasbro has revealed official product images of its entire Guardians of the Galaxy toy line, which includes more 6" scale figures, loads of 3.75" action figures and vehicles, deluxe figures and roleplay toys (including a Rocket Raccoon mask). You can see several toy versions of Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Dave Bautista (Drax The Destroyer) and Vin Diesel (Groot) after the cut, plus clear images of what actor Lee Pace will look like as Ronan the Accuser as well as Djimon Hounsou as Korath. We've also updated this post with new videos from the Hasbro showroom detailing the full line's figures and vehicles up close.
Just in case you weren't satisfied with a look at 60% of a LEGO box a shutterbug snapped at the Nuremberg International Toy Fair last week, the toymaker has officially unveiled new images of one of its Guardians of the Galaxysets in advance of a full preview starting this Sunday at Toy Fair 2014 (which we will be at in full force).
