Marvel has announced the first issue of a new Legendary Star-Lord series, which will also be coming in July, just in time for the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. The new series will be written by Sam Humphries (Avengers A.I.) and feature art by Paco Medina (Ultimate Comics X-Men).
Marvel Studios has released four new images from the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, two of which are official stills and two of which go behind the scenes.
The most interesting of the bunch is a shot of Chris Pratt's Star-Lord running along the terrain of an alien planet, with the wall behind him just a flat wall of blue. It's not all that different from an old Star Trek set. It just goes to show how much post-production work goes into making movie look as polished as the final screenshots presented here look.
If you've seen the trailer for the new Guardians of the Galaxy movie, you're likely already familiar with the prominently featured scene in which Chris Pratt's Star-Lord tiptoes up to an ancient-looking artifact with designs on stealing it in a manner reminiscent of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Now, Marvel Studios has released a slightly longer look at that scene in what you might call a clip or what kind of seems like a slightly different trailer cut. Whatever you'd call it, the video awaits your eyes.
"Being stuck in space with no accountability makes for a strange combination of youthful vibrancy and cluelessness in a childlike man," said actor Chris Pratt of his role as Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, the first Marvel Studios film to depict some of the decidedly less iconic characters of the Marvel comic book universe. In an interview with USA Today's Brian Truitt, the actor and Guardians director James Gunn shared new images from the film and revealed some details about the characters and the overall nature of the film, which they hope will be a "fresh diversion" for superhero movie fans who've been seen the same movie again and again and again.
Odds are director James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxyfilm will be a lot of fun, given Gunn's pedigree and the cast, but I'm not sure it'll top this video of Vin Diesel being sosuper-excited about playing Groot that the's walking around the set of Fast 7 on high-tech stilts, hosting impromptu gatherings to talk about his tree-alien role, and, most importantly, high-fiving Kurt Russell.
Diesel posted the video on Facebook. Check it out after the jump.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy movie probably seems like a pretty weird concept to a lot of folks unfamiliar with the comics source material, so Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is here to offer a primer.
Speaking with Empire magazine, Feige said the Guardians are "an unlikely band" brought together by "pure circumstance." He went on to describe each character. You can catch all his descriptions after the jump.
New photos from the London set of Guardians of the Galaxy hit the Web today, giving fans their first real glimpse at several of the alien races set to appear in the movie (there's a definite Star Trek feel to the makeup), and the uniforms the Nova Corps will be wearing.
Check out a smattering of photos (the first of which reportedly featured Glenn Close in full makeup as Nova Prime, but is in fact not her) from a scene in which aliens run across London's Millennium Bridge after the jump.
That picture was of Groot, the tree-like alien from Planet X who and member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The scuttlebutt now is that Diesel may be the voice of the character, who in recent years has limited his speaking to nothing more than the phrase, "I am Groot."
