We're getting ever closer to the premiere of the new Justice League: Gods and Monsters animated movie at this year's San Diego Comic-Con --- and its release on video shortly thereafter --- and I'm not sure that I've ever seen Warner Bros. go as hard at promoting one of their DTV releases as they are with this one. And it makes sense that they would, too; as the product of legendary animator Bruce Timm, who co-wrote the story with Alan Burnett and provided new designs for all the characters, Gods and Monsters is definitely something for fans to be interested in.

Warner Bros. has been steadily producing a whole lot of direct-to-video animated movies about DC Comics over the past few years, and while a lot of them have been adaptations of existing stories, there are a few original storylines mixed in there as well. The latest project, Justice League: Gods and Monsters is one of those, and it's got something that should make even the most jaded viewer a little interested: Bruce Timm, the animator best known for being one of the creators of Batman: The Animated Series. Now, we're getting a look at what we can expect in the movie courtesy of Machinima's Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles, a web series coming out in advance of the movie that's set to reveal the project's much darker version of the Justice League.

Returning to DC Animated fold after a lengthy absence (outside of producing), Bruce Timm will be bringing an all-new version of the Justice League to life with Justice League: Gods and Monsters. Just like other DCU animated features of late, the direct-to-video feature will be getting an action figure line. Unlike those other series however, this line will fit right in with the recent Batman: The Animated Series collection.
