Kotobukiya

Finally, after what seemed like an impossible wait, Kotobukiya's Black Canary Bishoujo is really happening. Though the statue has had its share of development issues, Koto has been teasing this final iteration of the anticipated Black Canary for a few months now, and is actually on track to deliver her before the end of the year. While it will be nice to finally be able to complete the Birds of Prey collection, Dinah Lance is missing a little something compared to her teammates. As you can see in the images, Black Canary's base is much more simplified stand, and lacks the gargoyle base like the rest of the Birds of Prey.

Revealed in full for the first time at Toy Fair last month, Kotobukiya's upcoming Bishoujo Marvel Wasp looks to be another strong addition to the line. The figure captures the best parts of Janet Van Dyne's pixie-like form, without stretching too far into the oversexed interpretations that have appeared elsewhere in the Bishoujo series.

Toy Fair 2015 was jam-packed with all sorts of super heroes in all shapes and sizes. However, few booths had versions of our favorite Marvel, DC and video game characters that looked as sharp and immaculate at Kotobukiya. With a diverse range of models and statues, the company's 2015 offerings are definitely going to pack a Hulkbusting punch.

DC fan-favorite Li'l Gotham might not be around any more, but that doesn't mean it's been forgotten completely. After already getting the action figure treatment from DC Collectibles late last year, now Kotobukiya has announced plans for its own unique take on the characters from Derek Fridolfs' and Dustin Nguyen's alternate Bat-verse.

Over the past few years, Kotobukiya has had a rather successful run with its Bishoujo line of statues. Based on the concepts and art of Shunya Yamashita, the Bishoujo (Japanese for "pretty girl") statues often depicted iconic female DC, Marvel and video game characters in a style that exaggerated the femininity of these leading ladies.
