We're looking back at the long and weird history of superhero comics by picking our favorite heroes from each decade in our latest fantasy draft. Each team must include one character who debuted before 1950, one character that debuted in each decade from the '50s to the '90s, and one character that debuted in 2000 or beyond, plus two wildcard picks from before and after 1980, for a total team of nine characters. Today our writers pick a Doom Patroller, a dog, an extreme teen, a latter-day Stan Lee creation, and some of the most popular heroes of the 21st century

This week saw the conclusion of the first volume of Marvel's newest incarnation of the Ultimates, which brought together a team of heavy hitters charged with defending the Earth from the most cosmic of threats. Next month, the title relaunches as Ultimates 2 by Al Ewing and Travel Foreman, and Marvel has provided us with a first look at unlettered pages from the first issue.

Recently, Marvel has been releasing teaser images with the tagline "Divided We..." featuring two characters separated by shattered imagery, and all we knew was that it pointed to the publisher's fall slate of comics set to be unveiled later this month under the Marvel NOW banner. Today, Marvel released a complete teaser titled "Divided We Stand," featuring two distinct groups of heroes and villains separated by a literal divide.

Since the dawn of the Silver Age, legacy characters have been a staple of superhero fiction, and having a new character step into a well loved role can open up new opportunities for writers and artists to tell different kinds of stories. In The Replacements, we’ll look back at the notable and not-so-notable heroes and villains to assume some of the most iconic mantles in the superhero genre. This week, we're celebrating Pride Week at ComicsAlliance and changing things up a little bit. Instead of looking at a singular identity and the legacy it created, we're looking at eight distinct LGBTQ+ characters who stepped into iconic superhero roles.
