The dream of a live-action Pokémon movie has been alive for the past twenty years of the franchise's existence, with fans around the world imagining the day they'll see an approximation of a real Charizard or Mewtwo on the screen. ‘Captain Marvel’ Solo Film to Have a Different Origin Story
It’s not uncommon for superheroes (even ones in separate comic book universes) to share similar origins and powers — Arrow and Hawkeye, Thanos and Darkseid, Sif and Wonder Woman, Avengers and Justice League, etc. Fans of Captain Marvel can tell you that the Marvel hero shares a few things in common with DC hero Green Lantern, and while the two characters aren’t really all that comparable, the origin story of the former will undergo a little tweaking for her highly-anticipated solo film.

On the heels of the incredibly disappointing news that Michelle MacLaren has exited the Wonder Woman film comes some exciting news from the realm of superhero women. Although we won’t officially meet Captain Marvel for a little while, Marvel Studios is already putting talent together for her upcoming solo film. The studio has their eye on Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve, two talented female writers to hopefully pair with a talented female director (hey Marvel, I hear Michelle MacLaren isn’t busy at the moment).

The Guardians Of The Galaxy movie created new stars for Marvel, with solo titles spinning out for Rocket Raccoon, by Skottie Young, and Legendary Star-Lord, by Sam Humphries and Paco Medina. Much of the credit for tapping in to this corner of the Marvel Universe belongs to Nicole Perlman, the screenwriter who zeroed in on Guardians as a movie project and first saw its potential. Now Perlman gets another chance to play in the house that she helped to build. Marvel announced at the Women of Marvel panel at New York Comic-Con on Sunday that Perlman will write an ongoing Gamora series launching some time in spring 2015. Further details, including the artist for the project, have not been released.
