The first season of FX’s Legion has come to a close, bringing David’s battle against the Shadow King to a temporary halt. The X-Men legacy character has much bigger problems ahead, judging by the finale’s post-credits abduction and the Shadow King’s new host, so allow Noah Hawley to explain their significance in Season 2.

We’ve still one more episode to conclude Season 1 of Noah Hawley’s FX Legion, though the series took a major step toward comic continuity with the reveal of its Shadow-y big bad. Now, Hawley reveals the potential for Season 2 to skew even more X-mentioning, perhaps even introducing Charles Xavier himself.

Only two episodes remain in FX’s Legion after tonight, at least for this year. Yes, David Haller and his merry band of mutants will be back for Season 2 in 2018, and your head is already hurting just thinking about it.

It's only a few episodes deep, but there's already something very clear about FX's new X-Men spin-off show Legion --- it's staunchly independent in it's execution and vision, and very clearly the work of showrunner Noah Hawley (of the excellent Fargo), and feels at odds with a lot of more recent comic adaptations. For that, we should be grateful.
