Known in the world of comics as the publisher of Study Group Comics, creator of The Secret Voice and an all around fixture in not only Portland, Oregon's lively comic book community but also the small press at large, Zack Soto has recently extended his creative ambitions into the world of toys. Designing, sculpting, casting and painting limited runs of resin figures based on his own comic book creations is a labor of love. For as difficult as it is to get started in the comics world, it's even tougher to set out into the realm of plastic 3D characters. This week at New York Comic Con 2013, Soto is set to unveil his latest batch of resin Rock Trolls and Ghost Grunts. ComicsAlliance got in touch with the comic book and toy creator to learn more about the plastic-paved road that lead him to this year's show, and what he's got in store for 2014 and beyond.
Nickelodeon's presence at major comic conventions seems to grow with each passing year, and this month's New York Comic Con is no exception. Following the launch of the latest season of the network's eminently popular The Legend Of Korra series, as well as the news that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will return for its second season on October 12, Nickelodeon plans to celebrate both shows at the upcoming convention in New York. In addition to revealing panel times for each program, Nickelodeon has announced it will be screening a brand new episode of The Legend Of Korra at the show's panel, where cast members and executive producers will be on hand to answer fan's questions. Further, the network will have an exclusive poster -- featuring Korra and Wan, the first Avatar -- to be used for signings. As for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the entrance to the convention floor will feature a display of TMNT action figures, from the '80s to present day, with fans having an opportunity to participate in social media sweepstakes to win the toys.
Nickelodeon has provided ComicsAlliance with a first look at the exclusive Legend Of Korra poster, and you can check out more details of the network's convention plans below.
