One is perhaps the most predictable solo title Marvel could launch in 2015; the other may come as more of a surprise. 2015 sees new #1s for two Avengers; Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man in January, and Clint Barton, Hawkeye, in March -- hot on the heels of the resolution of the previous Eisner-winning Hawkeye series from Matt Fraction, David Aja and Annie Wu. Announced at the Axel-in-Charge panel at New York Comic-Con on Sunday, Ant-Man is an ongoing series from writer Nick Spencer and artist Ramon Rosanas -- and the first trade collection should be safely in stores in time for Ant-Man movie to hit theaters in July. Meanwhile Hawkeye #1 sees Jeff Lemire make his Marvel debut, teamed with artist Ramon Perez on pencils.

Brought to the screen by Hayley Atwell in the 2011 Marvel Studios movie Captain America: The First Avenger, Peggy Carter has experienced a major leap in prominence among Marvel's vast world of characters. She'll soon be the first female character to lead a live action Marvel Studios adaptation with Agent Carter debuting on ABC in January -- and she'll simultaneously star in her own mini-series from Marvel Comics. As announced at New York Comic-Con on Saturday, Peggy will be joined by Howard Carter and the mysterious Woodrow McCord in the five issue Original Sin prequel series Operation S.I.N., set in the weird world of the Marvel Universe of the 1950s. ComicsAlliance spoke to writer Kathryn Immonen and artist Rich Ellis to find out more about the series and their vision of Peggy.

The Netflix Daredevil panel took place at New York Comic-Con on Saturday evening, and the biggest revelation is that Rosario Dawson is not playing any of the characters anyone guessed she might be playing. In fact she's playing a relatively obscure supporting character from the Luke Cage comics of the 1970s, Claire Temple. Those lucky enough to attend the panel were treated to a preview clip that showed Temple, a nurse, tending to a wounded Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox). Other clips showed Daredevil rescuing Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) from a mugger, Vincent D'Onofrio as the Kingpin, and first glimpse inside the law offices of Nelson & Murdock. Following the panel, Marvel released images showing the first official glimpses of Daredevil, both in an early costume and in his civilian identity.

Marvel is planning its first big cosmic event since the end of the Dan Abnett/Andy Lanning-penned Annihilation/War of Kings cycle that ran from 2006 to 2010. (Or last year's Infinity, if you count that, but that was all about Earth, so we don't.) Black Vortex will cross over between Guardians of the Galaxy, the space-bound All-New X-Men, Cyclops, Legendary Star-Lord, Nova, Captain Marvel, and more. Marvel also announced Operation S.I.N., by Kathryn Immonen and Rich Ellis, which serves as both a prequel of sorts to the recent Original Sin event and a tie-in to Marvel's Agent Carter TV show; and Kanan: The Last Padawan, a five issue mini series also written by Greg Weisman and illustrated by Pepe Larraz, tying in to the Star Wars: Rebels animated series.

I hold my hands up: I've whinged and moaned before about comics sites covering toy news, and here I am doing the very thing (I have nothing against toys/figures/collectibles; I'm just a bit of a snooty purist). Anyway, the news of Japanese 'hobby products' company, Good Smile, teaming up with Nickelodeon to create new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures based on James Jean's illustrations, was simply too good to pass up. The validity of this statement can be gleaned by glancing at the image above. The four individual large-scale models, which will roll out separately beginning with the releases of Leonardo this November, will also have the capacity to combine, creating one huge diorama.The remaining three statues will receive a staggered release over the course of 2015.

Marvel Television has released the first teaser for its forthcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy animated series, set to air next year on the Disney XD channel. The clip introduces viewers to two of the animated cast -- Rocket Raccoon in gun-toting action, and Star-Lord offering up a taste of his best cocky swag -- and provides a taste of the show's fast-moving, neon-heavy animation style. The animated series was "announced" at New York Comic-Con on Friday (it's been announced at least twice previously, including at San Diego Comic-Con, but people have short memories for things they haven't see). No official launch date has been given, as the series is still in production.

As Vertigo's two currently longest-running series head to a close -- Bill Willingham's Fables and Mike Carey and Peter Gross's The Unwritten -- the DC imprint is doubtless looking for new series with long-term potential to run alongside FBP, Astro City, and American Vampire. At New York Comic-Con on Friday the publisher announced two titles that might fit the bill, both from DC writers making their Vertigo debut. Grayson writer Tim Seeley will team with former Madame Xanadu artist Marley Zarcone on Effigy, while once and future Secret Six author Gail Simone and former 2000 AD artist Jonathan Davis-Hunt are the team behind Clean Room.

It looks like Marvel is striking while the iron is hot. September's Edge of Spider-Verse #2, which featured an alternate-universe Gwen Stacy who bore the mantle of Spider-Woman and was also in a super-cool girl band, was such a massive success that the publisher has announced an ongoing series starring the character will launch in February. The creative team behind the Edge of Spider-Verse issue, writer Jason Latour, artist Robbi Rodriguez, and colorist Rico Renzi, are all expected to return. The announcement came Friday morning at New York Comic-Con in a closed-door, retailers-only panel, which reportedly also teased a January event with the familiar words "No More Mutants", and included retailer questions about the future fates of Thor, Wolverine and the Fantastic Four.
