There are few superhero movies we here at ComicsAlliance are looking forward to more than Spider-Man: Homecoming. After years of trying, it seems like Sony and Marvel may have finally found the right combination of elements to make this franchise enjoyable again. Fortunately, that means any tie-in merchandise is actually going to be worth tracking down. Or maybe I should say it's unfortunate because my wallet is going to be feeling the pain if this new Medicom MAFEX Spider-Man is any indication the kind of amazing figures we're going to get for this movie.

I'm not one to get my hopes up for a movie based on the tie-in toys, but dang it, Hasbro is putting out a Spider Racer vehicle that shoots Nerf darts as part of its Spider-Man: Homecoming plans, and now I'm hoping we get to see a Spider-Buggy of some sort in the movie. It's not going to happen. I know that. But the idea has been planted by these toys, and now it's all I want from this movie... aside from two hours of Tom Holland charming the pants off everyone in the theater. The Spider Racer is just one of a few Homecoming toys Hasbro has teased for the upcoming feature ahead of this year's Toy Fair. Want to know what else is in the works? The first ever comic convention on a cruise took place last weekend on Royal Caribbean's Brilliance of the Seas sailing from Tampa, Florida, to Cozumel, Mexico. Despite the unusual venue, Fan2Sea featured everything you'd expect from a landlocked con, including panels, signings, parties, screenings and, of course, cosplay. Being out at sea didn't stop these dedicated cosplayers from pulling out their best looks, often with a strong nautical theme, whether it was a seafaring Deadpool or two, or a watery Disney villain like Ursula or Tamatoa. ComicsAlliance was on the scene, courtesy of Fan2Sea, to capture some of our favorite cosplay on the cruise. This is the best cosplay ever... on a ship!

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from our years on the Internet, it’s that there’s no aspect of comics that can’t be broken down and quantified in a single definitive list, preferably in amounts of five or ten. And since there’s no more definitive authority than ComicsAlliance, we’re taking it upon ourselves to compile Top Five lists of everything you could ever want to know about comics. There's nothing fun about the topic, but death is unquestionably a huge part of superhero comics, and this week we're looking at five of the deaths that had the most profound effect on the Marvel Universe.

When superheroes make the transition from comics to TV animation, it's always interesting to hear what kind of theme music they get. Songs with lyrics that explain who the heroes are can be fun, but they can also go awry. Instrumental tracks can be boring if you're not careful, but if they're well-executed, they can do a great job of creating just the tone you want for your cartoon. I've put together a chronological list of nine memorable theme songs from TV superhero cartoons. Obviously I can't include them all, but I expect to see in the comments which of your favorites I've left out.

Since his creation several years ago, Miles Morales has become of the biggest fan-favorite characters in recent years and those fans have been clamoring to see him break out of the comics and take to the screen. Today, Sony Pictures confirmed that Miles will be the lead character of the upcoming animated Spider-Man film written by The Lego Movie's Phil Lord and Chris Miller, but what does that mean for the character and how will they approach possible ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

In a world where Rogue One can fold in Star Wars Rebels canon and vice-versa, it can be frustrating for Marvel fans that the movie and TV sides haven’t had any real back-and-forth characters. 2017 promises to be the biggest year yet for superhero movies, with eight confirmed major studio releases between February and November --- and a still unconfirmed ninth release expected from Fox. Highlights of the year include the first solo superhero movie with a female lead in over ten years, the first Spider-Man movie set in the extended Marvel Cinematic Universe, and an inexplicably gritty reboot of Power Rangers. There's a lot to look forward to, and a few movies to be skeptical of, so the editors of ComicsAlliance have decided to rank this year's eight confirmed releases in ascending order of excitement. We've tallied our editors' individual votes to arrive at a definitive list of the most (and least) anticipated superhero movies of 2017.
