After all the acclaim and attention Telltale Games got for the first season of its The Walking Dead video game, it'd be perfectly understandable for the developers and writing team to simply stay the course. To their credit, they haven't done that with the first episode of the game's second season, titled "All That Remains." The interface and art style are slightly different, the characters have developed and grown, and, most noticeably, the tone has changed somewhat.
But while I'm all for keeping things fresh, I'm not sure the changes are entirely positive.
If you were wondering what's in store for the characters you remember from Telltale Games' first season of its The Walking Dead video game in the new second season, the new trailer makes it abundantly clear: peril.
It's been a little over a month since Telltale games released a teaser for the second season of its wildly acclaimed TheWalking Dead videogame. It didn't announce a certain release date then, and it still hasn't done so yet, but Steam has potentially let the cat out of the bag.
According to the Steam Store, the first episode should be out in less than two weeks, on December 17.
The Walking Deadwas one of the best video games of 2012, hands down, so it's with great anticipation that we reloaded Telltale Games' blog this afternoon to see what's coming down the pike for the game's second season.
From what we can tell, it won't disappoint. Be warned: The info below and the trailer for the game may include a few spoilers for those who haven't played the first game yet, namely in terms of which characters survive and which don't.
Two of the things I have loved longest in life -- besides family, fireworks and cake -- are Lego and the Marvel universe. They were two things that sparked and fed my imagination and helped me play.
Now they've come together in the video game Lego Marvel Super Heroes. There was very little chance that I wasn't going to buy a game that combines two such nostalgic favorites. Still it comes as a great relief to discover that Lego Marvel Super Heroes doesn't just tap into my nerd reflexes; it's also tremendous fun.
The press materials for the first episode of Telltale Games' new Fables prequel series,The Wolf Among Us, note that players who are familiar with the company's Walking Dead games will "be right at home" with the game.
As far as the controls and the gameplay are concerned, that's completely true. They're basically identical. Tonally and stylistically, though, A Wolf Among Us blazes its own trail from the very first screen. This isn't even the ensemble drama/fantasy epic that Fables itself eventually became. The Wolf Among Us, at least in its episode one, "Faith," is neon noir all the way.
As a followup to its debut trailer, Telltale Games has released a handful of new images from its new Fables prequel game, The Wolf Among Us. Two of the shots indicate lead character Bigby Wolf will be in a fightin' mood for much of the game, though the others prove he'll show his inquisitive side, too.
Now, there's a new one-minute trailer and...we still don't know a lot. But we know the game will share a cel-shaded look similar to Telltale's smash-hit Walking Dead game, that it'll be a game of "choice and consequence" also similar to The Walking Dead, and that the first episode will be called "Faith." Oh, and Bigby falls out of a window during a fight. Hit the jump for the full trailer.
If I had to name my game of the year for 2012, it probably would have been Telltale Games' The Walking Dead video game. I say this as someone who enjoyed, but eventually sort of gave up on both the comic series and the TV show in that franchise. The game managed to solve a lot of the issues I had with its media brethren, and here's the crazy thing: The new downloadable "special episode," 400 Days, solves even more of them.
