Thor The Dark World - Page 3
As the famed co-creator of much of the Marvel Comics universe and cameo king of its current crop of films, Stan Lee enjoys a certain amount of leeway (*ba-dump!) when it comes to opining about pop culture. Take this week's installment of the serialized "Stan's Rants" video series. Lee somewhat dramatically explains that Thor's method of flight makes more sense to him than Superman's. While Superman's solar-powered Kryptonian cells enable him to navigate any axis without an explanation besides "He can," Thor has to chuck his mystical uru mallet Mjolnir in the direction he wishes to travel and catch a ride by holding onto its attached thong. As Wired's Angry Nerd points out, however, Thor's way is still a violation of the laws of physics fit for the gods.
For fans who can't wait until November 8 to see Thor chuck his mystical mallet at bad guys spanning the nine realms in theaters, Gameloft's Thor: The Dark World - The Official Game may just sate the ol' Midgardian appetite for Mjolnir-izing. Now available for free on iOS and Android devices, the new action title approximates the events of the Thor: The Dark World movie in a battle against Malekith the Dark Elf and his evil forces, who are seemingly *snort* Hel-bent on destroying every brach of Yggdrasil.
Tuesday's links await, after the jump.
Start your week off right with lots and lots of links.
The first Thor movie did plenty of traversing from Earth to Asgard and back again, but if these 40 new photos from the second film, Thor: The Dark World, are any indication, the sequel will span even more of the universe when the movie opens on November 8.
Asgard and Earth are in the mix again, of course -- and from the looks of it, we'll be seeing a lot more areas of both. But there's also the titular Dark World, some outer space insanity, and even some travel in between the Nine Realms. Check out all the images after the jump, although be sure to brace yourself for potential spoilers, just in case.
In advance of the November 8 premiere of Thor: The Dark World in theaters, Hot Toys has thundered online with the promise of not one, but two Thor 1/6 scale action figures. Mixing things up a bit form the previous version released as part of HT's The Avengers movie line, these new figures feature fresh Chris Hemsworth head sculpts, a redesigned muscular body, an updated costume and revamped accessories. Thor's trusty hammer Mjolnir is in the mix, as expected, along with swappable hands. The standard version of the figure be able to slink around in a big ol' Asgardian cloak, while the sleeveless "Light Asgardian Armor Version" version will come packed with a craggy display base to stand on.
