‘Deadpool’ Director Breaks Down That New Red Band Trailer
The Merc With a Mouth really earns that nickname in the latest red band trailer for Deadpool, the profane, balls-out and very violent new superhero-adjacent film that sees Ryan Reynolds reprising his role — albeit far more faithfully — for director Tim Miller in the first X-Men spinoff that doesn’t feature Wolverine. The new red band trailer offered plenty of previously unseen footage and raised a few questions — questions that Miller and producer Simon Kinberg are happy to answer in their official breakdown of the trailer.

Deadpool lives. Marvel's Merc with the Mouth will finally get his own solo movie after years in production limbo according to an announcement by Twentieth Century Fox, which has scheduled the picture for a February 2016 release -- on Valentine's Day weekend, no less. Deadpool is love. Tim Miller is attached to direct, and Ryan Reynolds is expected to reprise his role from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, though no official deal has been announced. Fox also pushed back its Josh Trank-directed Fantastic Four movie from June 19th 2015 to August 7th, to cover for a Michael Fassbender Assassin's Creed movie that's been bumped off the calendar due to production delays.

Test footage from the unlikely-but-not-impossible Deadpool movie has been appearing and disappearing all over the Internet for the past few days, with a high-res version popping up on Vimeo (since deleted) and DailyMotion (the player above). Here's what we know about it: director Tim Miller and actor Ryan Reynolds made the two minutes or so of footage back in 2012 to convince 20th Century Fox to greenlight a film. It hasn't convinced them yet, and Reynolds has been less than optimistic about the movie's chances in recent interviews. Fans can assume that if there had been (or could be) a Deadpool movie, it would have looked a lot like this. There's a lot to like about what's in here, and a few things that seem to be missteps. Let's take a look.

"Find your balls!" bellowed Rob Liefeld last year from the top of Mount Twitter. The comics creator behind such enduring hits as X-Force and Cable was painfully bothered by 20th Century Fox, the studio that controls the movie rights to Marvel's X-Men characters, for not moving forward with a new film based on Deadpool, another character he created (with Fabian Nicieza) for the House of I

Although it's a popular joke among film buffs and other various species of fandom, very few film trailers are memorable enough to truly necessitate their own DVD-style commentary tracks. The classic "The Dark Knight" trailer and those created by Pixar certainly spring to mind, but any forthcoming trailer-centric features will have to catch up to the remarkable presentation put together b
