Splinter Takes Center Stage in ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Microseries’ #5 [Preview]

In an effort to further flesh out its new ongoing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series by Tom Waltz, Kevin Eastman and Dan Duncan, IDW has been releasing a steady series of one-shots under the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Microseries banner. So far the series has spotlighted the four core turtle bros, but this weeks’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Microseries #5: Splinter turns the camera on their rat mentor. Written by Erik Burnham with art by Charles Paul Wilson III and colors by Wilson and David Peterson, the 32-page issue promises to reflect on Splinters days as the human Hamato Yoshi and explore how the master’s troubled past continues to shape his present. It’s pretty deep stuff for a rat with turtle sons. IDW has provided us with an exclusive first-look at the issue, which you can read after the cut. From IDW’s official solicitation info:

Face-to-face with the man who killed his family so many years ago, Master Splinter comes to terms with a life of assasination, love and redemption. This story takes a look back at the entire life of Splinter, including his secret life as Hamato Yoshi. This soul searching provides a startling revelation for Splinter, one that will change his and his son’s lives forever!

You can read seven pages from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Microseries #5: Splinter below.
