My undying affection for The Mighty Mutanimals is probably coloring my thinking here, but its fairly safe to say that when it comes to the snapping turtle known as Slash, the character has always been coolest in comics. Let's be real - in three appearances on the original TMNT animated series, Slash didn't do anything nearly as cool as he did in the pages of Archie's '90s comics (or your sandbox, if you had the Playmates action figure). Rather than fall back on the character's animated origin rooted in zany Bebop and Rocksteady antics, Tom Waltz, Kevin Eastman and Andy Kuhn are exploring a new take on the brute in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #16. Fans caught Slash's mutation last month, but this issue finally sees the green machines fight... well... a way bigger and meaner green machine. What's more? Ross Campbell remembers the character's classic design on an alternate cover that art collectors will probably recreate in their quest to own the original. From IDW's official solicitation info:

A relentless, demented foe is after the Turtles and he won't rest until his deadly mission is fulfilled! A desperate fight for survival will take some unexpected turns before the night is over. Don't miss it!
