They survived the Superhuman Registration Act and all the badness associated with Norman Osborn's "Dark Reign," but the Avengers have yet to face one of the most polarizing contemporary issues of our time: government health care. Rather than wait for an "Ultimate" storyline confronting the issue, it's probably best to laugh through "Avengers Assemble! Episode 1: Healthcare," in which a group of cosplaying comedians imagine how Earth's Mightiest Heroes might respond to today's hot-button issue. The sketch sees Tony Stark addressing the team's new health plan, with each Avenger inadvertently revealing their health care needs as they inquire about how reform impacts their lives. Scarlet Witch is worried about her artificial domestic partner and imaginary children, Hawkeye's worried about STD's and unwanted pregnancies, Thor feels marginalized as a god from another realm and Wolverine is just happy to be Canadian.

As loose as the acting gets in portions of the video, the obvious love that went into the sketch overrides my inner critic enough to let all the laughter shine through without any real fuss. The costumes are great, the dialogue is clever and the stars really seem like they're having fun. Just chug it like Stark downs his Scotch. You'll be glad you did.

Check out the video below, just mind the salty language if you're at work.
