If you're like me and you make a point of checking for new Batman toys every time you're in a store with a toy aisle, then you may already be familiar with Batman Unlimited. The line's been kicking around for a few years, but now it seems like DC is releasing a new direct-to-video feature that ties in; Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts.

On the one hand, I'm not a big fan of the designs that they're going with for the movie -- like the figures, they boast a version of the bat-symbol that seems slightly off-model and give Batman's cowl a weird chinstrap that looks like a blue soul patch. On the other hand, this is a movie that has Batman riding around on a robot panther that turns into a motorcycle, and that's basically amazing. Give it a watch for yourself.

Thanks to our friends at CBR who posted the clip, we know that it's going to feature Batman, Nightwing and and a roster of DC's most televised superheroes (you know, Green Arrow and the Flash) in a battle against a bunch of animal-themed villains including the Penguin, Cheetah and Gorilla Grodd. For practical purposes, this means that it will feature Batman kicking a talking telepathic super-gorilla in the face, and if the whole robot-panther-motorcycle thing wasn't enough to get me to give this thing a chance, that'd do it.

Also of note: The movie features the voice talents of Roger Craig Smith, who you may remember as Ezio from Asssassin's Creed II. If they go as far as having a passer-by remark that he has "never seen a stranger man" when Batman swings around in one of his incredibly toyetic costumes, I will be willing to declare this one of the best superhero movies of all time.

Batman Unlimited: Animal Instincts will be out on video this Spring.
