The Flash isn’t shy about going full-on bananas with its DC villains but did you know Barry Allen’s red suit was painstakingly designed to be as realistic as possible? Or that actors have to stay completely still to get those Flash-y hyperspeed effects? These are just some of the Flash facts racing at you in the fifth episode of ‘You Think You Know TV?,’ which goes under the mask of The CW’s scarlet speedster!

Much as Arrow drew inspiration from some of its CW predecessors, The Flash initially began as a planted spinoff of the emerald archer, before CW brass were impressed enough for a full-fledged Flash pilot. Not only that, but The Flash owes quite a bit to the original 1990 CBS series, including John Wesley Shipp as Barry Allen’s father, Mark Hamill reprising his Trickster role (again!), and several other notable series alum.

For good measure, did you know that Central City bears a striking resemblance to Portland, or that several Flash episodes have blink-and-you’ll-miss-it references to The Big Bang Theory?

‘You Think You Know TV?’ is a ScreenCrush original series that dives deep into the worlds of your favorite TV series and freeze frames a few tidbits you might not have known, as with our first installments for Arrow, Mad Men, The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones. Our companion series ‘You Think You Know Movies?’ has already tackled everything from Star Wars to The Avengers and Spider-Man, but now it’s time to hit the ground running with some Flash-y facts from our latest video!
