‘Flash’ Borrowing a ‘Black Lantern’ For Robbie Amell’s Firestorm Return

The Flash Robbie Amell Deathstorm Return
The CW / DC Comics

We’d already known The Flash would use its Earth-2 connections to return Robbie Amell to the role of Ronnie Raymond, former Firestorm host, but it seems the character’s parallel universe name may carry some major DC weight. Meet “Deathstorm,” as The Flash namedrops a Green Lantern baddie for Robbie Amell’s return!

Following early photos of Amell decked out in a decidedly darker incarnation of his Firestorm suit, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that we’d meet the Earth-2 character as “Deathstorm,” a name borrowed from the zombified “Black Lantern” Ronnie Raymond in Green Lantern’s “Blackest Night” comics.

Not only that, but Ronnie Raymond and Caitlin Snow will indeed remain a couple on Earth-2, the latter of which has been seen on set as the Killer Frost alter-ego introduced (briefly) last season:

In the meantime, so reads The Flash Season 2 synopsis for January 19 return “Potential Energy”:

JOE AND IRIS GET TO KNOW WALLY — Now that they’ve grown closer, Barry (Grant Gustin) considers telling Patty (guest star Shantel VanSanten) that he is The Flash. Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris (Candice Patton) try to get to know Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale), and the team hunts down a meta-human who can slow time itself.
