DC Celebrates Decades of Tuneage with ‘The Music of DC Comics: 75th Anniversary Collection’

Of all the media that can enhance a comic book reading experience, music may carry the most weight. Whether its a simple indie title shaped by a creator’s suggested playlist or a Hollywood adaptation’s big budget score, music — internally or externally ingested — can play a huge role in how readers take in story information. With this in mind, DC Comics is taking yet another step in celebrating its 75th anniversary later this year with the release of “The Music of DC Comics: 75th Anniversary Collection,” a collection of 31 tracks readers have grown to associate with some of their favorite charactersAs reported by The Source, the collection will include 21 never-before-released tracks from across DC’s multimedia adaptations that stretch chronologically from 1941′s “Superman March” to 2008′s “Smallville Season 8 (End Title).”

Reading down the list, there’s a lot of familiar theme songs, plus a few most fans have likely only ever caught via YouTube. A digitally remastered anything from “Legends of the Superheroes” seems like a treat, but its funky opening jam? That alone justifies this release.
