Late yesterday, Taika Waititi treated Marvel fans to a surprisingly lengthy video from the set of Thor: Ragnarok, which offered our first look at Tessa Thomspon’s Valkyrie makeup (or some of it) and showed off a few of the characters and props we’ll see in the new sequel (among other things). You might have missed a followup to that video over on Instagram, where Chris Hemsworth shared a photo to support the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe — and revealed his sleek new Thor costume.

The new costume ditches much of that clunky metal plating and the heavier gauntlets in favor of a more streamlined (and much more attractive) suit that appears to be primarily constructed of a leather-like material:

But as you can see, the costume isn’t the point of this photo, which features Hemsworth and Waititi showing support for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in their opposition of the Dakota Access Pipeline (you may recall that Shailene Woodley was arrested at a recent protest). The actor also offers an apology for a culturally insensitive costume he wore at a party earlier this year.

Just last month, the cast of Zack Snyder’s Justice League shared a video offering their own support for the tribe, whose young members started a petition to oppose drilling into the Standing Rock Reservation, which could poison the Missouri River. The petition has gathered over 338,000 signatures in opposition of the Dakota Access Pipeline, which has also drawn the attention of the UN.

You have to admire Hemsworth and Waititi for taking a moment of their time to use a highly-anticipated film in the most popular franchise on the planet to bring attention to an important cause. (I also have to admire Waititi’s t-shirt because, let’s be real, it rules.)

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on November 3, 2017.
