In all honesty, the main thing that's going on here isn't that the New York Knicks' own Carmelo Anthony is appearing in a special issue of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Amazing Adventures comic where he ends up being mutated by the Foot Clan, even if that's what we're here to talk about today. No, for me at least, the big thing here is that somehow, this is not a thing that happens all the time.

I mean, really! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been around since 1984. You'd think that over the past 32 years, celebrities would be lining up around the block to team up with them! But then, maybe it's not that they don't want to. Maybe the Turtles have standards so high that you need to be the leading scorer on the United States Olympic Basketball team to get to hang out with Michelangelo. Either way, it's happening now, and you can check out a preview below!

Here's the official solicitation from IDW:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Amazing Adventures: Carmelo Anthony Special

Matt Manning (w) • Chad Thomas (a) Jon Sommariva (c)

The Turtles meet NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony in this oversized special! When Carmelo is captured by the Foot Clan, it will be up to the Turtles to save him. But after Carmelo is mutated someone may have to save the Turtles instead!

FC • 40 pages • $5.99

So to be clear on this, Carmelo Anthony is definitely being mutated into a half-animal form at some point in this story. The question is, what will he be? I'm not even sure what a Knick is, but I don't think it's an animal, and considering that his college team was the Syracuse Orange, I think it's only slightly less likely that he would be mutated into the concept of a color than it would to see him as, you know, an orange. Apparently we'll just have to wait and see when it hits shelves next Wednesday!
