If there’s one thing we’ve learned from our years on the Internet, it’s that there’s no aspect of comics that can’t be broken down and quantified in a single definitive list, preferably in amounts of five or ten. And since there’s no more definitive authority than ComicsAlliance, we’re taking it upon ourselves to compile Top Five lists of everything you could ever want to know about comics and pop culture.

This week we’re covering the only thing some comic fans love as much as comics: toys!

Comics based on toy lines are a perfect match. A connection to a popular toy line can mean big bucks for the comic company, and the toy line gets the benefits of promotion plus a way to expand on the mythology of the world the toys exist in. Everybody wins! Some toys have maintained a presence on comic shop shelves for decades, but nostalgia has recently fueled the return of a number of old favorites. Since not all toy lines are so lucky, this week we’re looking at five that are ripe for a comic book rebirth!

While this list constitutes a great, definitive list, there are still so many toy lines out there that could make for great comics, and we could easily do a sequel, so let us know your favorite forgotten toys in the comments.

I'd also like to officially send an angry face emoji to IDW for announcing that new M.A.S.K. series before I got to write this episode. M.A.S.K. was my original number one pick and the entire reason I wanted to do this list and they totally stole my idea.
