The new Wasp, introduced in All-New Avengers, is arriving in her own series with The Unstoppable Wasp #1 by Jeremy Whitley and Elsa Charretier. With a fantastic cover by Charretier and the promise of fun, upbeat adventures, this comic seems to be aimed squarely at the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl demographic, which is frankly a direction more comics should be aiming in.

Just in this four page unlettered preview, we see the Wasp's origin recapped in the shape of her helmet, appearances by Ms. Marvel and Mockingbird, and the Wasp defeating Monica Rappaccini's giant robot suit by making it dance and then jumping into Monica's lap.

I'm sure there's some drama in this book, but it's clearly focused on fun, and that's the kind of superhero comic I always get excited about. Especially when it's coming from Whitley, creator of Princeless, and Charretier, who did great work on her all-too-short run on Starfire.

Marvel has also announced that the book's letters page will spotlight women scientists each month, with the goal of inspiring the next generation, something the Wasp would certainly be in favor of.

The Unstoppable Wasp #1 features a variant cover by Elizabeth Torque, and comes out January 4.
