Let’s face it, Netflix’s already-forgiving standards and the required turnaround of animation already gave Voltron: Legendary Defender a strong shot at returning the five lions for Season 2, but there’s better news yet. Season 2 will air as early as later this year, so get ready to form up once again!

Haven of breaking news, Comic-Con 2016 brought us word that Voltron: Legendary Defender would indeed return for Season 2, set to bow at an unspecified date late this year. The first season debuted its inaugural eleven episodes only one month ago on June 10.

All episodes available to stream, so reads the official synopsis:

Five unsuspecting teenagers, transported from Earth into the middle of a sprawling intergalactic war, become pilots for five robotic lions in the battle to protect the universe from evil. Only through the true power of teamwork can they unite to form the mighty warrior known as Voltron: Legendary Defender.

And its cast:

  • Jeremy Shada (Adventure Time) as Lance
  • Bex Taylor-Klaus (Scream) as Pidge
  • Josh Keaton (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) as Shiro
  • Tyler Labine (Tucker and Dale vs. Evil) as Hunk
  • Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) as Keith
  • Kimberly Brooks (Mass Effect) as Princess Allura
  • Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords) as Coran

The series is also executive produced by Joaquim Dos Santos of Legend of Korra and Avatar fame. While we wait for Season 2, stay tuned for more from Voltron: Legendary Defender!
