The Walking Dead Season 6 served up a side-dish of new details alongside the Comic-Con 2015 trailer, including the additions of Ethan Embry and Nurse Jackie alum Merritt Wever in a comic-adapted role. Now, new photos confirm Wever’s role as Alexandria doc Denise, also illuminating Embry’s adapted character and more.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Wever will indeed play the expected role of Alexandria resident Dr. Denise Cloyd, a surgeon whose role is made more crucial by Rick’s killing of Pete, formerly the town doctor. You’re warned of a few comic spoilers from here on out, the Denise of the books also eventually became romantically linked with Heath, a character similarly joining Season 6 (Straight Outta compton star Corey Hawkins), though AMC might well change things up.

Also joining the fray, as glimpsed by the first trailer will be that of Ethan Embry’s “Carter,” a composite of several characters from the books, who likely looks to turn the town against Rick’s leadership. Granted, the two seem to be working together below (note the newly-pacifist Morgan, armed with his staff, rather than shotguns), though the trailer had both Carter and Rick seemingly at odds in this scene as well.

Elsewhere of The Walking Dead Season 6, showrunner Scott Gimple teased that Season 6 would fill in certain comic backstory left unexplored by the books. Apart from the face-off between Rick and Morgan, Season 6 has also released a few photos previewing return characters like Rick and their continued adjustment to life in Alexandria.
