Dwight Howard's affection for the Man of Steel has earned him some serious dunk contest and SportsCenter commercial cred. Sure, he hasn't donned a costume to play Steel onscreen like his relative rival Superman superfan Shaquille O'Neal, but thanks to a team up between Warner Brothers and Adidas, the NBA star (and Olympic gold medalist) and his fans can soon don official Superman merchandise with a basketball bent.

The usual suspects in sportswear - t-shirts, fleeces, jerseys, track jackets and sneakers - are targeted to arrive in stores in time for the holidays later this year. Adidas isn't revealing their designs just yet, but WB consumer products suggests apparel is being put together with both athletes and casual fans in mind. The image from WB and Adidas' official press release shows Howard's Superman-stylized NBA Slam Dunk Contest circa 2008. As good natured as the outfit was - I'm hoping designers can do something about his male whale tail up front. Remember Adidas, undies go on the outside.
