Back in November, Marvel's contribution to Hero Initiative saw numerous talents including Darwyn Cooke, Tim Seeley, Ed McGuinness, J. Scott Campbell and dozens of others donate variant "Weapon X" #100 covers for charity.

Still, as pointed out by The Beat via Occasional Superheroine, one of the most seasonally appropriate covers came from artist Ed Hannigan, who had Wolverine pay a visit to Calvin and Hobbes' snowmen (with apologies to series creator Bill Watterson).

It is a thing of beauty.

We've highlighted the special kind of magic that happens with "Calvin and Hobbes" fans pay homage through both 2-D and 3-D art before, but this is a berserker rage-style reminder of Watterson's enduring influence on the comics of all genres.
