Organized by artist Renae De Liz, Womanthology is a forthcoming 300-page hardcover anthology featuring comics created exclusively by female writers, artists and editors. The book's stated purpose is to "show support for female creators in comics and media" and showcase "what women in comics have accomplished, and what [they] are capable of." Sight unseen, the project raised more than $100,000 on the Kickstarter fundraising platform in August, but a large assortment of pages finally appeared this week on the Womanthology site.

Among them, Nicola Scott, Robin Furth and Colleen Doran. Trina Robbins contributed this piece on Tarpé Mills, the legendary creator of Miss Fury, the first female action heroine created by a woman.

Featuring new work by Camilla d'Errico, Lauren Montgomery, Fiona Staples, Chrissie Zullo, Kate Leth, Janet Lee, Jill Thompson, Annie Nocenti, Barbara Kesel, Devin Grayson and dozens more, Womanthology goes on sale sometime in February. De Liz writes on the book's official site that a final release date is to be decided later, but that those who did not secure copies with Kickstarter pledges can pre-order the book at finer comics stores and from Amazon.com. The book will be distributed by IDW Publishing and all sales profits will go to charities via the Global Giving platform (which takes a percentage of all donations). The specific charities have yet to be determined.
