Warner Bros. definitely has a more prolonged shooting schedule than Marvel’s films, though with only Man of Steel to show for their efforts, it remains to be seen if this works in their favor. The studio has lined up schedules for two of their next superhero films, with Wonder Woman heading into production later this year and Justice League following early next year.

It really does feel as though Zack Snyder has been shooting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice for an eternity now. It seems even stranger still that we’ve seen a teaser and two versions of a full-length trailer (and countless stills and official set photos) this far out from its March 2017 release date. As revealed in Empire’s new feature on Snyder’s film (via Comic Book), it won’t be long before we start this lengthy process with Wonder Woman and Justice League:

Logistically it is staggering. As Batman V Superman gains its coat of special effects, and the various stages of editing, scoring, grading and sound mixing are completed, Deborah Snyder, along with Roven, is watching over a sandbox that stretches around the world. Jenkins is in London prepping Wonder Woman, which will shoot there this autumn. Suicide Squad, already well underway in Toronto under the earthy gaze of Ayer, will shoot through to September. “I do watch the dailies,” she promises, enthusing about the film’s “street quality.” They are already doing soft prep for the Justice League, which will begin shooting in the spring, and overseeing the script for Aquaman, which James Wan will direct.

Patty Jenkins, who was initially hired to direct Thor: The Dark World before Marvel replaced her with Alan Taylor, is set to helm the first Wonder Woman solo film starring Gal Gadot — that project reportedly begins on Diana’s home of Paradise Island in the 1920s and follows her as Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) brings her to our world.

Justice League will be directed by Zack Snyder, who is creatively overseeing the DCU.

In addition to these projects, WB is also planning The Flash — last we heard, Phil Lord and Chris Miller were developing the screenplay for that film, although with the duo set to write and direct the young Han Solo movie for the Star Wars universe, it remains unclear if they’re still attached to WB’s project in any capacity.

Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 23, 2017, followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017.
