X-Men: Apocalypse didn’t have a very great summer. The movie itself was not great, and its ad campaign, featuring huge billboards of Oscar Isaac’s Apocalypse choking Jennifer Lawrence, was roundly criticized for showing excessive violence against women.

There is one scene, though, that might make the film sit a little better with us. There was a sequence set in a mall that was featured in a number of the trailers, promos, and even discussed by director Bryan Singer during the press junket, but ultimately deleted from the final cut of the film. It appears he liked it too much to let it go completely, because it’s one of the deleted scenes that appears on the Blu-ray.

Whereas First Class and Days of Future Past both leaned in to their period settings, Apocalypse used the 80s — which sounded so promising! — as little more than a painted backdrop. The deleted scene in question occurs early on in the first act of the movie, and shows Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, and Jubilee hanging out in a mall. They visit an arcade, a Payless, and get brain freezes from slushies, and mostly just have a good time. The best part happens a little less than a minute in, when Nightcrawler notices that no one in the mall appears to be afraid of them. Also, Jubilee actually gets to use her powers. There’s even a bit of breakdancing, although Nightcrawler’s animation wasn’t completed by the time this scene was cut.

Hell, it might even make the Blu-ray worth buying. Well, or you can just watch it below:

Let’s pour out an orange slushie for the X-Men that could’ve been. X-Men: Apocalypse arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on October 4, 2016.
