The first pics of Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl -- the 11-year-old killing machine from Mark Millar's "Kick-Ass" series -- are out. Compare and contrast the movie version with the comic.

Millar says he wants the super-bloody "Kick-Ass" to "do for superhero films what Pulp Fiction did for crime movies. It's just a kind of watershed. Suddenly you can do things you wouldn't expect. The studios were extremely nervous about that."

Are people ready for superhero gore, particularly after Watchmen failed to deliver the blockbuster numbers the studio expected? Perhaps a better question: Are comics now mainstream enough that audience are willing to accept that they can make movies in any genre-- even a splatter film?
