It's been ten years since Marvel and Capcom's last combative get-together, but thanks to a successful 2009 re-release on the PS3 and Xbox 360 and the popularity of this year's similarly-themed "Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars" on the Wii, rumors of a third installment of the series could actually hold some merit.

According to Kotaku, the sorta accurate Team Spooky has predicted an upcoming "Marvel Vs. Capcom 3," which is speculatively supported by an interview with Capcom Ultimate All-Stars producer Ryota Niitsuma from earlier this year.

Niitsuma had stated that if "Ultimate All-Stars" did well enough, future franchise fighting fusions (apologies for that much alliteration) were (okay, one more) feasible.
With Capcom slated to make some major announcements next week in Hawaii, Kotaku reasons MvC3 could be official before long. For the sake of antsy button-mashing arcade fighting game fans everywhere (myself included), this is one rumor I wouldn't mind being true to the max.
