The moment Jaime Reyes fans have been waiting for has arrived -- and there's a Booster Gold bonus. On April 22's Geoff Johns-penned "Booster" episode of Smallville, Booster Gold (Eric Martsolf) and Blue Beetle (Jaren Brandt Bartlett) make their small screen debut, and TV Guide has your first look at the duo in costume.DC Comics unveiled a Blue Beetle video teaser back in July, along with its intent to pursue a live action series for the scarab'ed crusader. In January fans got casting confirmation that prominent soap opera star Martsolf and Nickelodeon newcomer Bartlett would play DC's modern-day odd couple, although the question of Ted Kord's potential place in the Smallville 'verse is still a mystery.

From TV Guide:

The episode shows his origin story: A mysterious high-tech scarab turns him into a super-powered arsenal. Although Booster Gold and Blue Beetle are buddies in the comics, this story will initially show them at odds. "This is the first time the scarab comes on to Jaime, so it creates a bulkier, more dangerous armor," Johns says. "Ultimately he'll gain more control over the scarab and it will become more friendly looking."

Booster will also act as a thorn in Clark's side/an inspiration, winning the favor of Metropolis residents despite a lack of humility. According to Martsolf, "The episode takes place in Booster's very early stages where he's at his conceited best, where he believes he can do whatever he wants. He's gonna stay for the photo op and bask in the glory of his heroic efforts."

If I lived in Metropolis and had to choose between cheering for a dude sporting a shiny NASCAR uniform and a guy in black trench coat, I know who I'd choose. Bask away, Booster, my man.
