Two years after the first collaboration between the two companies debuted on Japanese television, Marvel and Madhouse are teaming up one more time for a new direct-to-home video project starring everyone's favorite armor-clad millionaire playboy, Iron Man: Rise of Technovore. The new movie will be written by Brandon Auman, who's written for the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and Iron Man: Armored Adventures animated series, and directed by Madhouse's Hiroshi Hamasaki. Mirroring the first arc of Matt Fraction and Salvador Larocca's Iron Man run, the plot centers around Ezekiel Stane's development of bio-mechanical technology that may outclass even Stark's latest armor, although it sounds as if this won't be a straight adaptation of "The Five Nightmares," as Marvel's announcement promises "Iron Man must evade SHIELD's manhunt and find a way to clear his name" after he's framed for a terrorist attack, with War Machine, Black Widow, Hawkeye and the Punisher all trying to bring him down.

The new project was officially announced by Marvel today ahead of more details being released by Marvel's Head of Television, Jeph Loeb, during the "Marvel TV Presents" panel at New York Comic Con this Saturday. Previously, Marvel had worked with Madhouse for four anime series based on stories by Warren Ellis -- Blade, Iron Man, Wolverine and X-Men -- which eventually saw broadcast on G4 last year.
