Stranger Things, the Netflix series created by the Duffer Brothers, isn't quite like anything we've seen before, and yet it owes a lot to many things we remember fondly. If you grew up in the '80s, Stranger Things feels somehow like an original work within the genre of "VHS tape that your friend recorded off their satellite that you sat in their basement and watched over and over again." When the kids are gathering their slingshots and radios to investigate the mysterious darkness that's overtaken their town, or when the mysterious little girl is lashing out with her psychic powers, it feels like Steven King. When a single Mom strives to pierce the dimensional barrier to find her son, there's a strong hint of Steven Spielberg. And when the teenagers are out in the dark woods looking for the monster that's attacking their loved ones, it's pure John Carpenter. But it's not a soulless pastiche; it's a moving story with lots of fascinating twists along the way. Naturally this is the kind of project that gets fans excited, so we've gathered some of the best Stranger Things fan art for you here.

With the recent release of the third installment in the new Star Trek film series, Star Trek Beyond, the future of the past continues to zoom into the future of the present. Even as that future continues to change around us. And just as our present vision of the future changes, so too the exploits and adventures of the crew of the USS Enterprise have changed. And that makes sense, especially when you consider the fact that this new iteration of the franchise has revolved almost entirely around time travel and alternate timelines. But if all this time talk has got your head spinning, there's a lot of great fan art by talented artists to enjoy, and we've compiled a small collection of some of the best. Gallery Viewer… Engage!

Bustin' Makes Me Feel Good: The Best Ghostbusters Fan Art
However you first came to it, Ghostbusters was a classic of the 1980s. Its special blend of action and comedy, sci fi and the supernatural, made it unlike anything else at the time, and nothing that tried to imitate it really came close (not even Ghostbusters II). In celebration of the new Ghostbusters and the classic film that inspired it, here's some great fan art of characters and scenes from both movies. A lot Egon Spengler, a lot of Jillian Holtzmann, some Slimer, even a Gozer or two. This is the gallery to scroll through while you're deciding who you're going to call.

The Man of Tomorrow: The Best Superman Fan Art Ever
Superman is the best. The. Best. In every possible way you can take that statement. It’s not up for debate. He’s the first superhero. He’s the greatest superhero. If there can be but one superhero, he’s the only superhero you need or that matters. If you asked a thousand people to draw or describe what a superhero is supposed to look like, the consensus design would undoubtedly most closely resemble Superman. The idea of Superman is so iconic, that even as his look and costume continue to change and evolve over time and be interpreted and re-imagined by countless artists the world over, he somehow still manages to be instantly recognizable as Superman. The amazing and eclectic collection of art I’ve put together here only serves to illustrate my point!

Flying High Again: The Best Nightwing Fan Art Ever!
Dick Grayson has done it all. He was in the circus. He was the first Robin. He’s the reason almost every superhero had to have a kid sidekick. He started his own super-team with his friends. He broke away from Batman and became his own hero, and took over for his mentor and became Batman.More than once. He’s been a good cop in a bad city. He’s died and come back as a super-spy. And now, with DC Rebirth in full swing, he’s set to slip back into the black and blue and become Nightwing once again! Oh, and if you haven’t been on the internet, he also has the unquestioned, best butt in comics. So, yeah, as you might have guessed there’s a lot of fan art of him floating (or flipping, spinning, and swinging) around out there on the internet.

Kate Kane was the character the Bat-Family needed. An adult woman who takes inspiration from Batman without being his protégé. In other words, his equal, although she still respects him as the guy who was doing it first, and the clear leader of the Bat-franchise. Her military background gives her training in combat and strategy that makes her an asset to the group, as well as a formidable hero on her own. So with this being Pride Week, it's all the more appropriate that we celebrate Kate Kane with a gallery of fan art. It features many gorgeous depictions of her in the iconic Batwoman costume, but also some of her stylish civilian looks, and her baseball-oriented Bombshells incarnation.

Defender of the Universe: The Best Voltron Fan Art Ever!
The galaxy is in peril from the forces of the evil Zarkon, and there’s only one thing to do: form Voltron. And it looks like the galaxy is in luck, because Netflix and Dreamworks Animation have resurrected the big ‘bot in a new series Voltron: Legendary Defender. The entire first (hopefully, of many) season is available for streaming now, and if you haven’t watched it yet, you should fix that, because it’s fantastic! In celebration of Voltron’s triumphant return, we’ve compiled a gallery of some of the best fan artwork featuring the big guy and Team Voltron. We even snuck a few Vehicle Voltron pics in there (because there’s no way Vehicle Voltron is ever going to get its own gallery).

You're a Marvel, Marvel Girl: The Best Jean Grey Fan Art Ever
Whether your first Jean was the Marvel Girl in her green gogo dress, the Phoenix (who we were later told wasn't Jean, but let's be real it was basically Jean), the hyper competent blue-headsock-wearing Jean of the '90s comic and cartoon, or the cool black leather Jean of the turn of the Century (whether drawn by Frank Quitely or played by Famke Janssen) --- it's hard not to be excited about this next era of the character. To celebrate that, we've put together some of the best Jean Grey fan art on the web. Some of it looks like Sophie Turner, some of it features various looks from the comics, and some of it is entirely new. Phoenix, Marvel Girl, or just going by Jean, she's one of the first ladies of Marvel Comics as well as one of the most powerful, and this artwork celebrates that.

Turtle Power! The Best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Fan Art
A library’s worth of comic books, multiple successful animated series, half a dozen movies, a bonanza of video games, enough toys and action figures to sink a battleship, millions of albums sold, and a “live”, touring rock ‘n roll stage show. When talking about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles it starts to become easier to try to think of the aspects of pop culture they haven’t conquered. But what’s even more astounding than that is when you realize they’ve conquered so many of these corners of the zeitgeist over and over. For the last three decades, these radioactive, sewer-dwelling reptiles have time and again reinvented themselves for new generations of fans eager to learn more about martial arts and pizza, as well as pulling back in former “party dudes/dudettes” who now have little would be Turtle fans of their own. Or, you know, people who are old enough to have kids, but don’t, and are just happy to see the Ninja Turtles re-emerge from the depths to take over the airwaves and toy aisles yet again.
