Brothers Joe and Anthony Russo cemented themselves as successful comics-to-film directors this summer with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but the team's had comics on their minds much longer as they've worked with writer Ande Parks (Capote in Kansas and Union Station) for the better part of the past six years forging Ciudad with artist Fernando León González for Oni Press. With a live action film version of Ciudad currently in production at Sierra Pictures, Oni's finally ready to reveal the cover for the upcoming graphic novel, which promises hyperviolent action set in a fictionalized version of Paraguay's Ciudad del Este. Get your first look at the cover constructed by The Criterion Collection Art Director Eric Skillman, along with an interior double-page spread by González, below.

From Oni's official description:

She was kidnapped and taken to the worst place on earth. He was hired to get her out. Now, they’re both trapped in a city that wants them both dead, and their hopes of getting out are fading fast. From the bloodthirsty criminals, to the corrupt police, to the kid hiding a Glock under his sweatshirt on the corner, everyone wants Tyler Rake and Eva Roche dead.

"This project originated a long while back, when the Russo Brothers came to Oni and I with the idea of a kidnapping story set in Ciudad del Este," Parks told ComicsAlliance, "It's incredible, after all the time spent researching, writing and watching the book develop, to see a cover that so perfectly captures the content and tone. Very exciting. I can't wait for people to get their hands on this thing."

Cuidad will arrive in comic shops and through digital outlets in December.
