It might be a crime-ridden urban hellscape that's frequently destroyed by a murder clown, but the one thing you can say about Gotham City is that it has some great tourist attractions. There's the Crossword Puzzle Museum, the Second National Bank (at the corner of 2nd Street and Second Avenue), and the Ace Chemical Plant/Monarch Playing Card Factory historical site. Any of these destinations would make for a fun and educational field trip.

So of course, that's not at all where the kids from Gotham Academy are going on their first trip into the city. Instead, Olive, Maps and the rest of the gang have decided that they should immediately go into the nearest available blind alley, and I have never been more worried about their safety than I am right now. Check out an exclusive preview of the next issue, Gotham Academy #11, by Brenden Fletcher, Becky Cloonan and Karl Kerschl, below!

$2.99 | On sale October 21
The gang is going downtown! Olive and Maps use Kyle’s tennis tournament as an excuse to explore Gotham City and investigate the mysterious appearances of Calamity. Could Olive’s mom really be alive?

With any luck --- and with the knowledge that being a teenager in a domino mask slightly increases your chance of survival in Gotham City --- the kids will make it out of the alley unscathed and to a safer location, like, say, that exhibit of Cat's Eye Opals and priceless statues of Bast. That ought to be good for the kids, right?
