Under normal circumstances, I am generally way too lazy to take advantage of the blank cover variants that publishers put out, but the Hellboy 100 project isn't exactly a normal circumstance. In order to support the Hero Initiative, the charitable organization that helps creators in need, Dark Horse has produced a limited run of 100 blank cover variants for Hellboy and the BPRD: 1952 #1, giving each one to an artist to produce a one-of-a-kind variant.

First Look At Busiek, Dewey And Bellaire's 'Tooth And Claw'
If you tell me that there's a new comic out from Kurt Busiek, Ben Dewey, and Jordie Bellaire, then you have my attention, but if you follow that up by telling me that it could be accurately described as "Conan meets Kamandi," that's when I start just throwing money in random directions hoping that it hits someone who can hand me this book. It's a bad strategy for buying things, but it's just too hard to wait for November and the release of Tooth and Claw #1. Set in a brutal world of violence and magic, Busiek and Dewey's Tooth and Claw was announced at Image Expo during San Diego Comic-Con. The book is billed as a "world-building fantasy" focused on a society of animal people that's coming apart at the seams, and as you can see from the new pages Image released this week, it is absolutely beautiful.

Best Convention Sketchbook Ever: Original Art From Comic-Con
Over the past few years, I've been toting around themed sketchbooks to conventions to get pieces of art from some of my favorite comic book creators, based on Jack Kirby's creations and tokusatsu heroes. This summer, however, I decided to switch things up a little and go with a much broader theme, since some people are not as familiar with the past 40 years of Kamen Rider as I'd like them to be. The result: A sketchbook full of my favorite characters. Now that I've been through HeroesCon and San Diego, I've gathered up a pretty solid bunch to start out with, and they're pretty amazing. Check below for this summer's crop of sketches from artists like Chris Burnham, Tom Fowler, Joëlle Jones, Ben Dewey and more!

In the final few hours before San Diego Comic-Con opened its doors to the public for Preview Night on Wednesday, Image Comics Expo took place in an upstairs ballroom at the nearby San Diego Bayfront Hilton, where the publisher welcomed a group of press, creators, and fans to watch as the company announced, discussed and otherwise promote a great variety of upcoming Image titles.

Year of the Flood author Margaret Atwood surprised us all a few months back when she illustrated charming superheroic versions of two of her Twitter following fans, @kidney_boy and friend @DrSnit. Atwood's friendly gesture drew the attention of Steve Lieber, Ron Randall, Cat Farris, Ben Dewey, and Natalie Nourigat of Periscope Studios, who joined the fray with their own unique takes on the Twitter
