Don't Even Trip Dawg: Cartoon Network Cards Coming to Quidd
The curious habit of collecting digital trading cards continues to grow, with major companies like Topps and Upper Deck holding center court. There's plenty of room in the space for smaller companies to pick up the slack though, and as users of Quidd can attest, that app has being doing a more than serviceable job hitting more niche properties. Already hosting card and "sticker" sets based on Bob's Burgers, Valiant comics, Star Trek and more, Quidd is now teaming up with Cryptozoic to bring some Cartoon Network favorites to fans eager for more Steven Universe, Rick and Morty and Adventure Time collectibles.
Best Covers Ever (This Year): IDW 2016 Edition
In the latest of our galleries celebrating the best covers of the year, we're looking at the best covers from IDW. IDW maintained its impressive and diverse line of licensed properties in 2016, from Ninja Turtles to Little Ponies, as well as ambitiously expanding and collating its Hasbro properties under the "Revolution" banner, and reviving and reinventing the Micronauts, M.A.S.K., and Rom.
The Powerpuff Girls Take On Vacationing Yetis in New Episode
The city of Townsville is a pretty festive place in general, so it makes sense that when winter rolls in, the Powerpuff Girls take advantage of a snow day and head out to do some sledding on their favorite hill. This year, though, there's a problem: Not only has a snow day been extended by a blizzard into an entire month, but when a whole bunch of yetis move in, they start to take over all the best hills for themselves, an act of aggression that will not stand. And that, friends and neighbors, is the plot of "Snow Month," a new episode of The Powerpuff Girls that's set to air as part of Cartoon Network's holiday-and-winter themed programming featuring new episodes of PPG, Steven Universe, Regular Show, and more. And since that Steven Universe episode is all about Greg's first winter with Baby Steven and we probably couldn't get through even the shortest clip without sobbing, we've got a fun scene from PPG for you to watch below!
12 Facts You May Not Have Known About The Powerpuff Girls
Everyone loves trivia about their favorite animated features and series, but with over 100 years of animation history behind us right now, there’s always some new obscure fact to learn. That’s why ComicsAlliance is going deep into the minutiae of your favorite names in cartoons in this continuing video series. You think you know cartoons? Well, here’s a few things you might not know! This week we're taking a look at Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, the Powerpuff Girls!
Derek Charm On Drawing 'The Powerpuff Girls' In Comics
The city of Townsville is home to three of pop culture's greatest superheroines, and with their return to television with a new series last year, it was only a matter of time before The Powerpuff Girls made it back to comics. Now the newly redesigned Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup are taking center stage in comics once again in a new series from show writers Haley Mancini and Jake Goldman, and artist Derek Charm. But with a show that's been as visually driven as PPG, there are a lot of challenges to bringing it to the page. I spoke to Charm about his connection with the show, the challenges of what he's drawing, and how the comics are coming from a much stranger place than the show.
Let Your Gem Glow with Hot Topic's Cartoon Network Lookbook
Which of the Crystal Gems from Steven Universe are you? Are you a delicate, meticulous Pearl? Or perhaps you're more of a Garnet: strong, proud, perfectly balanced. Or could you be more of a hedonistic, impulsive Amethyst? Or maybe you're Steven? Whichever Gem you identify with most, Hot Topic is ready to help you express that side of yourself with some fantastic clothes that just debuted in their Cartoon Network Lookbook. And if you're less of a Gem and more of a Powerpuff Girl, a Marceline or Finn, or even a Courage the Cowardly Dog, Hot Topic can help you out there too.
Mojo Jojo Takes to the Airwaves in 'Powerpuff Girls' #1 [Preview]
Never fear, Citizens of Townsville --- the Powerpuff Girls are back! Not just in an all-new 40-episode season arriving on Cartoon Network starting in April, but with an equally all-new ongoing comic from IDW. Show writers Jake Goldman and Haley Mancini are co-writing the comic. And Mancini's more than just writing the Powerpuff Girls, she's also one of their arch enemies, as the voice of Princess Morebucks on the show. Art for the comic is provided by Derek Charm, whose work you may have seen in Super Secret Crisis War and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Retailer incentive covers will feature art by animators from the Powerpuff Girls cartoon, starting a Jay Hasrajani variant for this first issue. There's also a subscriber variant by Paulina Ganucheau, as well as the standard cover by Charm.
Get A First Look At 'Teen Titans Go' Vs 'Powerpuff Girls'
Here at ComicsAlliance we're big fans of Teen Titans Go, the sitcom that asks, "What do the premier group of teenage superheroes do when not saving the world?" And answers that question with, "Almost marry a pot of chili, team up with alternate versions of themselves, and eat so much that their stomachs overtake their minds." The point is, it's a pretty great show. If you've been watching Cartoon Network at all during the last month, you're probably aware that the channel recently rebooted Craig McCracken's legendary The Powerpuff Girls. Like TTG , the new Powerpuff doubles down on the wackiness of its predecessor to pretty fun results. Now fans of both shows will get the crossover of their dreams with "TTG v. PPG." Check out a first look clip, above!
Derek Charm Draws The Redesigned Powerpuff Girls
A few years back, I had a conversation with Derek Charm where he talked about how much he loved drawing bright, poppy colors. Even then, I thought his clean lines, expressive style and love of neon pinks and blues would make him a perfect artist for a Powerpuff Girls comic, and now, we know that's the case. After serving as the regular artist of IDW's PPG and PPG Super Smash-Up, it's pretty clear that he has a knack for the job. And now, he's back at it, taking on the redesigns from the new television series in IDW's all-new Powerpuff Girls #1 --- and in addition to the art for the story, he's done a new variant cover where they're kicking the living heck out of Mojo Jojo.
