Good news for Steven Universe fans who also love video games: This weekend at PAX East, Cartoon Network is unveiling two new video games, including Steven Universe: Save the Light. Based on the popular and beloved animated series, Save the Light will be a console RPG with an original story by series creator Rebecca Sugar set for release this summer. But it's not alone. Cartoon Network is also launching OK KO: Let's Be Heroes with a game and animated series focused on "an endlessly optimistic kid attempting to level up to be the best he can be in a dynamic universe of friends and challenging foes," developed by Capybara Games and artist Ian Jones-Quartey.

Steven Universe’s global takeover is progressing nicely, as the hit Cartoon Network show has already expanded to comics, toys, and video games. Later this year, Steven Universe prepares to dominate yet another medium as series creator Rebecca Sugar adapts one of the show’s most popular episodes in the form of a children’s book. Illustrated by Elle Michalka and Tiffany Ford, who are both original Steven Universe crew members, The Answer tells the story of how aristocratic gem Sapphire and lowly soldier Ruby met and fell in love, and fused to become Garnet.

After two and a half months without new episodes, Steven Universe warmed up January with a new Steven Bomb week last week. While the first couple of episodes focused on Steven’s birthday, starting with the heart-melting story of Ruby and Sapphire’s first meeting, the last three episodes were specifically about Peridot, the Gems’ sometimes enemy, and now uneasy ally. There were several developments for the character, but none that stuck with me quite so much as what happened in the fourth episode of the week, “Message Received.”

Steven Universe is a show about a lot of things, including sharing donuts with friends and learning to dance and falling in love with someone you were never supposed to fall in love with. It’s warm and wonderful and it is a joy to watch unfold.
